1. Momo no Hanabira
Oh gosh, this is a odd song, ~Yuda~ and ~Kitto~ said a lot huh. Well, this is Ai’s 1st single and this song does show Ai Otsuka’s carefree side. I like the birds chirping in the background. Now, this song has some interesting instruments playing through the song. Ai’s voice just sounds calm and nice. The best thing of this song is that there’s a Japanese feeling to it all, which adds more interest to me.
2. Himawari
Himawari starts out very airy and quiet, then comes in staccato strings and then what I think is a harmonica starts playing. It’s a bit faster than “Momo no Hanabira” but still contains the carefree feeling in the song. To me I think this song has a wintry feel to it, but then again that would corrupt with the title as it means “Sunflower”. Ai’s vocals are a bit nasally sometimes but it’s still quite nice to hear.
Ai’s debut single was quite much nice and carefree the whole way through. Later in her career she strays away a bit from this, not saying totally stray but enough to try new styles of music. Still, this was a great beginning for Ms. Ai Otsuka.
