1. HOLD HEART
I found the song at the beginning very reminescent of the band, The Police. Nana actually sounds strong in this tune. After the loud guitar ends it goes back to Police like sound. This is very much more mellow than last single “Utareru Ame”. I guess she wasn’t going to make this very hard rock. Though I like this safer, rock side to her. It’s like “Kesenai Tsumi” but devoid it of the synth. Great song overall.
2. blue butterfly
More safe rock huh? The beginning of the song scared me because she was squeaky. Anyway after that intro she sounds a lot better. Though she does that whiney thing again later in the song which is pretty harsh to my ears. The guitar is the better one to do that Nana. The middle was a bit shocking, enter more whiney Nana. The tempo Is a bit slower than “HOLD HEART” but it’s got its good sides because of it.
“HOLD HEART” is definitly a great single. Shows more of a softer rock side to Nana’s music. blue butterfly doesn’t end up on the album which is fine for me. Do I recommend it? Well, sort of, you can always pass this up and find “HOLD HEART” on the album or get the single just for “blue butterfly” It’s really your choice.
