CROSS SEASON (Instrumental)
1. CROSS SEASON
Daisuke Asukara produced this track! Wow, I never would’ve thought these two would’ve combined for such a sweet dance track. Though it’s not as powerful as her other dance track. example: Believe or Result, but this song has a pretty smooth side to it. Lyrically it’s about her graduation that happened recently which is a nice change of style to lyrics. Oddly, there’s something that doesn’t sound right in Namiville….and I can’t place my finger on it. Maybe it’s just that I’m used to hardcore stuff. Still what they did to this song on the album was just rude.
2. i CAN FLY
Why is Nami yelping? It doesn’t seem to suit her very well, but being a rock track, I thought this was a pretty nice try. At least it’s better than that godawful “Ready Steady Go!” There’s some fun in its vein which is nice and all but I don’t like how she tackled the chorus much as it seems that it’s mechanical and somewhat off. Other than that her energy is like beyond awesome in this song.
3. Lost and Found
Thank you, this was the better B-side and it made so much more sense and kept the energy that “i CAN FLY” had. I’ve used to forget this song so many times that it was bad. Eventually after some hard listening, it stand out on its own pretty well and was a strong B-side. The only thing I can really say about this is “What is this, Brightdown’s prelude” that’s because it sounds similar and has a dark tone to it, even though “Brightdown” is obviously better.
So, Nami’s 1st single for the final SONY album was pretty good. It doesn’t stand against the more harder tracks in her discography but it does set a calm feeling for being an A-side. The b-sides being very rockish were pretty good, though i CAN FLY can get annoying. It’ll be surpassed royally by the next single for sure. BTW I’m on ends between if I like her leaving SONY because SONY pretty much made her career with the various tie-ins she had. I hope she does go with avex in the end and they better promote her well!
