1. Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimi-tachi yo
I was quite curious to how Saraba was going to turn out because it has such dark covers when compared to their previous efforts! I’m really liking it though because the song has a certain dark quality to it (plus it is a little late for Halloween…which this gives me feelings of). Then again it also reminds me of their sister’s group with “Oh My Ghost?” but this takes more of a safer route, It’s solid, but MomocloZ has done better…at least it’s better than “Otome Sensou”.
2. Kuroi Shuumatsu
It’s strange the song begins with coughing >.> Just like the A-side, Kuroi Shuumatsu has a similar devilish feel which also carries itself under Halloween-ish feels, but not as much as “Saraba”. I’m a little more shaking my head because they have speaking moments which does throw the song off quite a bit. Then the chorus comes up and its sugary cute which throws me off even moreso! After a while it does sound like they were going for something metal…it was absurd for me…leave it for BABYMETAL…
Strangely enough the regular only track had its PV out a month before the single’s release which is a bit odd and then learning that it was to promote Furbies (which are strangelt getting popular again >.>). To say it doesn’t fit on this single is an understatement because it seriously is so sugary and upbeat and all kinds of idol juice. It’s covered in synths and the girls are slightly auto-tuned in places as well. For being as crazy as it is…it stands out the best on the single for the strangest reasons…it’s like cocaine to my ears…it’s ridiculously catchy and just happy…strange song indeed.
I feel like MomocloZ is slightly getting better with each release but they aren’t consistent with good songs like in the case for Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimi-tachi yo. The leading track is good and non-offensive, but it doesn’t strike me as memorable…that was where Wee-Tee-Wee-Tee slides in and just bores this drill of cuteness into your mind and I think it’s my favorite cute song of theirs yet. As for Kuroi Shuumatsu, they were trying hard for a metal sound but it felt all over the place and some of the transitions were a bit wacky at times. Overall not a bad single, but it’s slightly worse than”Otome Sensou” was.
