1. Wild succession

There’s something about Wild succession that just doesn’t seem right to me.  While I do enjoy Aki’s vocals aganist a pretty cool arrangement, I was expecting Wild succession to be more explosive and faster.  Still for an anime track, it’s not half bad.  Still, just not what I was totally expecting.

2. Chousen! Dekoboko Mirai

The opening of this song was just so cute and oddly hypnotizing in a way.  It feels like a winter song as well…then again it could just be the bells and the joyous feeling throughout.  Weird enough is that the song features Aki singing a whole lot better as well.  It’s pretty cute, and fits nicely as the single’s B-side.

While I don’t think this single is going to be on an album anytime soon, Wild succession is alright, but it’s how I felt for the other singles I reviewed so far in the current era…So it’s nothing to new, now it wasn’t a big step down either.

1. Scarlet Bomb!

I have to say, I wasn’t too big of a fan when Aki released “Made in WONDER”.  Luckily, she won me back over with Scarlet Bomb! which unlike the last single is just pure J-rock.  There’s a little more BKGD vocals here, but I really do like Aki’s vocals in the song.  There’s a lot of energy with arrangement and it’s hard and I like that.

2. Love Wind

Love Wind seems to be more like a mixture of “Scarlet Bomb!” and “Made in WONDER”, odd styling right?  Well, it doesn’t exactly help that it sounds like a summer tune (when it’s already Autumn).  It’s pop music at it’s typicalness, so clearly I’m not too big a fan of this track.

When’s that album due out Aki?  Anyway, Scarlet Bomb! was actually a pretty cool track to have.  I love how rockin’ it sounds with Aki’s vocals and she should stick with this more often.  Love Wind though was more anime-ish and poppy and kind of cheesy all-around too.  Not the best B-side she’s had.

1. Made in WONDER

I’m still getting used to Aki’s music and Made in WONDER is pretty interesting.  Unlike the previous single I reviewed “BLOOD QUEEN”…this is more of a happier rock tune.  It does surprise at the sudden mood difference of her songs, but this is pretty good for Aki.  Even the piano and guitar solo sounded great together.  Summer track this is.

2. Hide and seek

Hide and seek is a bit more serious than “Made in WONDER” and I kind of like it.  I really think Aki showed off her vocals more better than in the A-side and the music isn’t too out there for me to handle.  There’s something that is a bit bland about it…maybe it’s the music, but Aki gave a pretty good vocal performance in this track.

Aki’s summer single pops out and well, it isn’t as strong as other summer songs that were released so far, but she didn’t do too bad on it.  Hide and seek was nice, maybe a little bland, but nice otherwise.  Just WONDERing where her next album is.

1. BLOOD QUEEN

Going by just the title alone, I would’ve guessed the song would’ve been a darker track than normal and in this case I’m right.  Her voice sounds pretty quiet against the darker guitar riffs that were going.  Aki’s vocals reminds me of Nana Kitade’s but just not amazingly shrill as hers.  This song definitly has a pretty cool thing going on for her and I quite like it.  Good song.

2. Boukyaku Butterfly

I didn’t expect Boukyaku Butterfly to sound so…..Irish…BB decided to go for a more lighthearted sound to go against “BLOOD QUEEN’s” more darker sound.  It starts out with a synthy opening and the main track is basically acoustically driven which is nice, but seemed very random on here.  Just when the synths play, is when I get the feeling of being Irish.  Strange lol.

Aki Misato’s first single for this new era was pretty cool, I’ll have to agree.  BLOOD QUEEN was a nice dark sound to hear from her, but it’s not like Asriel dark.  Boukyaku Butterfly was definitly a WTF moment, but it’s light and easy to just smile along and listen with.  Pretty good single.
