1. TARATIKA
Ugh, I’m surprised that so far this year we haven’t really had some sexy romp for an A-side and luckily it took only until June til we got a fun one with HYNA’s debut A-side, TARATIKA. At first glance it’s really similar to Lady Gaga’s big hit, “Telephone” because of the arrangement being a mere mirror version of it. However, the song is still pretty hot and HYNA does a good job making the arrangement her own. Also, at first I thought HYNA was Kuu since their vocals sound close enough but perhaps a bit deeper. I got to say, for a debut this track is pretty hot…and oh yeah ~you’re a loser, you’re a loser, you’re a loser~
2. Burnin’ Up
I’m surprised the next song has a bit more oomph to its arrangement and I love the flurry of synths in the song a lot more. Also HYNA’s vocals aren’t as deeper as it was in “TARATIKA” and it’s also a good move for her because the song just sounds busy and sexually charged. I will admit that I’m not that big of a fan of the chorus, but otherwise a fitting B-side.
3. Kidzuite
Then again, I wasn’t expecting a ballad to close out the single, but then again I slightly was because a single full of sexual songs is a no no xD. HYNA’s vocals are quite nice to listen since her vocals are strong and she has a steady tone that I just like. The arrangement is full, but at the same time missing some energy, but it’s passable.
As a new artist, they have to have a standout song to make them quite noticeable and I think with TARATIKA, she’s done that (but mostly because of the raunchy PV that adorns the song). I like the single overall and gives us a nice look into what possibilities she has in the future if she continues to release music. Good start for HYNA!!!
