1. Magic C

I’m not sure why but I really like Magic C for some raason, it’s got such a cool and funky vibe to it compared to “LOVE AUTOMATIC” that I actually prefer this track because it’s sexy in the right light.  Plus the ladies sound really nice (especially since it sounds like they all get lines).  It doesn’t have as much bang as their previous single but the song is good regardless.

2. Love So Serious

I’m a little surprised Love So Serious is a lot like “Magic C” with it’s funky atmosphere and use of horns, but I actually liked this more because it was more funky and upbeat…plus the ladies are shooting lyrics quite quickly in solo sections.  Yeah it’s definitely a song to hear at the club…not as epic as “STAND UP” was, but this is pretty damn good!

3. Sweet Melody

The other B-side though is kind of lame compared to the other two tracks.  First off it’s a lot simpler of a song with synth blips and mainly an R&B track.  At some points it felt like only one of the ladies led the song but that’s fixed in the chorus.  Still, it’s kind of underwhelming of a song and just didn’t leave as much of an impact like the other two tracks were.

 

 

The second and final single under the name CASSIS, Magic C would’ve been just as awesome as their debut had it not been for Sweet Melody which sounds like mundane R&B with an unknown MC to boot.  At least Magic C and Love So Serious picked up the slack even though they aren’t as electro as their first single.  Sadly after this single CASSIS goes into hiatus loses a member and returns as sherry a year later…

1. First One

I guess since I’ve gotten used to having just a trio nowadays, First One kind of feels underwhelming after “Shinalize”.  It’s mainly because the song is a bit more poppish than their previous singles…(think “Magic C”).  Add some synths and some auto-tune and we get this song.  I just wish the song didn’t feel weak to me.

2. perfect danger

I found it good that perfect danger was the more interesting song off the single since all three members sound great in their solo lines mixed in with a bit of a R&B/synth mash.  It is however a bit slower than “First One”, but it’s alright for right now.

I’m surprised that sherry is still releasing een though their sales are a bit blah.  First One is a downgrade when compared to their last single “Shinalize” but it’s only because the arrangement felt weaker than normal.  Luckily, they fixed it with perfect danger and it sounds like I would expect from them…I can only wonder if they’ll ever get to release an album at this point…

I like the fact the girls of sherry kept the dance style they’ve been using most of the time in their career.  It’s clearly more upbeat than their last single, “Romantic Ageru yo” and I do like that they are catering more into their lighter dance style, but sometimes I feel that there could’ve been more to this song.  At least the girls sound better together (but it could be that they dropped two members).  Catchy chorus too, since all the members are all there.

2. Maybe

As for the B-side, it’s a bit more energetic and also has that oomph that I missed in the A-side.  It does kind of remind of their song “Stand Up” when they were known as CASSIS back then.  The synths are aggressive and at various points made me wanna thing the arrangement was so K-pop.  Not bad and I did like this more than “Shinalize”.

 

 

Well there has been a lot happening since “Romantic Ageru yo”.  First off, they lost two members driving them down to a trio.  Also since their absence affected them, they were dropped from UNIVERSAL-J and now on SONY’s label but a sub-label that’s pretty much unknown.  Their sound nowadays is more towards a dance style and I’m happy for that and I hope they can eventually release an album before the final straw happens.

1. Romantic Ageru yo

I think everyone should know this song if they were a Dragonball fan.  Romantic Ageru yo was and probably is the most recognizable tune of the series and has already been covered by Shoko Nakagawa and Momoi Haruko.  sherry’s version is rather different.  First off it’s a bit more electronica than before and this time instead of one girl, there’s 5 girls singing here so that adds more to the song.  Overall, it’s not a bad song and the beat is heavy enough for me to like, but the song’s rather idollish feel sort of bothers me, but I’ll take it.

2. SEPERATE

The B-side is an original track from the group and it seems that SEPERATE has a more pop-sound and a more emotional sound to it than “Romantic Ageru yo”s more fun and kooky sound.  It might also vocally sound a bit better since the girls don’t sound like they’re under vocoder and thank god. 

3. SEPERATE <ajapai goes to Brazil remix>

Of course we get a remix of the original track, and knowing ajapai last accounts of remix, they aren’t that exciting and it seems that way with this song.  From the preview I got from iTunes, you don’t hear anything from the girls, but I’m sure they’re present.  The arrangement is a bit more electronic but nothing that could deem it original by my terms.

 

 

After “Magic C” CASSIS dropped labels and lost a member and transferred over to UNIVERSAL-J which right now is being the best at making Nami’s career a nightmare.  sherry’s debut single isn’t bad, but to begin a career with a cover track wasn’t the smartest plan either.  Romantic Ageru yo is timeless, I know, but c’mon leave it to solo singers like Shoko and Momoi.  SEPERATE is like sherry’s version of “Baby cruising Love” because of all that slightly emotional tone the song has.  Remix so far sounds like fail though.

Oh I see, this song is supposed to sound sexy right?  LOVE AUTOMATIC actually sounds pretty cool even though it is 6 girls trying to sing together. There’s actually a lady in the group that raps….maybe 2?  I’m not sure why but this song is easy to dance to and even though they sometimes don’t harmonize right, they managed to keep the song afloat with a nice beat and slick arrangement.

2. Yeah! Be my own love

The first B-side keeps the dance sound alive by acting more of a disco track and it continues to show the gals energy through the song and I quite like it a lot.  I just love the arrangement here as well being full and quite cool.  I love in the second set of verses they stop the music quickly and continue on.  Loving the energy.

3. STAND UP

Which brings us to our final B-side which has a stronger electronica and disco style.  I thought right from the start this was the best and strongest track from the girls.  It first starts with a really cool bass synth line and once of the girls is under auto-tune and she sounds quite awesome under it as well.  Pretty damn awesome track and made me an instant fan.

 

 

Ok, you guys are probably wondering who CASSIS is right?  Well, they were a 6-nin group when this single came out.  After their 2nd single, they got dropped/transferred to UNIVERSAL-J to which they also lost one of the members and changed names to sherry.  LOVE AUTOMATIC was surprisingly a pretty cool single.  All three tracks were danceable and different in their own ways….Damn, if people would’ve heard this I bet they would be loving it today.
