Track Listing

  1. Nothing Without You
  2. Nothing Without You (Remix)
  3. Nothing Without You (TV mix)

1. Nothing Without You

Oh, the cafe-sounding song.  Piano is ladened through this tune followed by the obvious Komura sound at the time.  I personally dont like this song just because she sounds too loud for the song and the BKGD singers were also in the way, and IMO was just annoying.  Then she belts out in the 2nd chorus, which was soooo bad.  Ugh, this song was filler all over though!

2. Nothing Without You (Remix)

I can never understand the beginning with the ~And we identify~ bit, but it oddly fits in the song when Ami sings in it, though it gets annoying to listen to it.  The remix is more like R&B than J-pop actually which is a farcry from what we’re used too.  The chorus is totally messed up though, the loudness is still there but with weird synths.  ~And we identify!~.  It’s not too long either, I guess that’s alright.

Well, this single was pretty bad also.  Then again we are on the 5th single which is pushing the limits with how good these songs can get for a debut album and you know what?  There’s a 6th single that’s a double A-side, *sigh*.  Though the remix was catchy it’s was put with probably the worst single.  Nice try Ami.

  7. Gariben Rock
  8. Onpu no Tegami
  9. Shokubutsu Ningen M no Theme
  10. Dear from…XXX (bonus track)

1. Hatachi Kinenbi

Angry guys singing Happy Birthday…..yeah right, talk about strange.  Then hard Miyavi guitars play and OMG….his voice is so unique, like his screaming really is piercing and his low droning voice makes him sound like he’s so tired.  It’s a clash of sound in my ears I’m very shocked at this.  Then it ends with the angry guys finishing Happy Birthday….what a strange opening of a song.

2. Coin Lockers Baby

Kinda settling a march tone to the song, miyavi strikes hard chords to start off this pretty cool track.  Even more hard pounding fills this track.  He’s using his low speaking voice and then you hear him screech it’s so eerie yet fitting for who miyavi is.  Then we finally 1st hear his airy higher pitch and OMG creepy!, this track is definitly a good one right here.

3. Kusare Gedou e.

Y’know this song is pushing the metal/visual kei genre very far with this song.  You know there’s a melody within the loudness of the music, I was very impressed at the percussionist.  Though the chorus was annoying miyavi, still sounds alright with his surprising weirdness.  Then it ends abruptly right into the next song

4. Night in girl

Then we get actually a nice change in sound as Night in girl is a lot more quiet and here miyavi actually sing and use his acoustic.  Perfect setup into it from “Kusare Gedou e.”   As time goes on in the song her vocals get stronger and louder but it just ends quickly as it started, so I guess it was a perfect interlude.

5. Girls, be ambitious

This was the only single off the album, and the promotional of the album to since none of the others made it which surprised me since the single were really good.  Girls, be ambitious starts with twinkling sound before miyavi comes in with his deep voice.  Actually, this would be the first to have some catchy stuff going on.  I’m not sure where the chorus is but, I think it’s where miyavi starts hitting pretty high notes and ad-libs them.  So shocking to hear, I would suggest to try this song first before getting into his harder stuff.

6. Oresama Shikou

We’re led straight back into the hard sounds of miyavi, if I’m correct “Oresama” was a film that had miyavi in it, I personally haven’t seen it yet, but I bet it’s a wild ride.  The song goes into the interlude where the drums and guitar are played syncopadedly which was something new, and I heard a whistle in there too.  miyavi sounds annoying with his ad-libbing in his lower register but nonetheless it once again ends immediatly straight into the next tune.

7. Gariben Rock

I pretty much enjoyed this song actually, the verses calm down a bit before the crazy chorus!  He actually sings a bit in this song too which is a nice surprise.  It’s one of the craziest songs in his collection for all the different time fields he enters.  At one point there’s a beat and it’s so catchy to listen to him quietly sing then belt out ~Yourself~ it’s a great tune.

8. Onpu no Tegami

Wait, what??? A soft piano playing in a song?  This is definitly a shocker to the album.  As it is a ballad, Miyavi does sing in his medium range, which is a great thing, this is what I like about him.  He can go into soft mode so quickly, after that some percussion is added to give more of a beat.  It’s such a beautiful song to hear, this is probably my favorite track, and it ends with the piano

9. Shokubotsu Ningen M no Theme

Dark synths sounds and wind noises slowly brings this track to life.  The odd chords in the song actually creates a very tense mood in the song, then it gets strong percusion.  You can hear miyavi in megaphone mode, singing along with the odd guitar.  It’s so freaky, and then you hear some ad-libbed miyavi in his airy pitch.  Such an odd song i like the drum interlude that was pretty nice.  Shadow the Hedgehog anyone?

10. Dear from…XXX

Another surprise to be handed the bonus track is an acoustic song.  I like how he plays the guitar, I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten worldwide attention….well he might with his crazy lifestyle!  He sounds like he’s moaning the words, it’s quite funny to listen to, but very pleasing.  I like the acoustic miyavi a lot, he’s got so much talent.

Song of Avoidance

  • Oresama Shikou

Miyavi’s debut album was rockin’ hard, It was almost a guilty pleasure to the Due le Quartz fans out there. I kinda wished he added the other single on here, but this will set me in, I really love this album.  The 2 non-rock tracks were so well made too.

1. around the world

A pretty strange opening leads us to a great guitar riff.  motsu’s rapping is kinda slower than “ROCK IT DOWN” though Yuri sounds so much better.  Even then this song should have been so much faster.  This is very slow for a euro-dance song.  So I’m pretty disappointed in the song itself.

Yea, so this is probably one of my least favorite single from the “Electrock” era.  Though later releases get better!  So pass this single up guys!

  4. Breakin’ out
  5. Breakin’ out (Y&Co. Remix)
  6. Breakin’ out (Dub’s Club Remix)
  7. Heart on Wave (Instrumental)
  8. Breakin’ out (Instrumental)

1. Heart on Wave

A little more lighter this time around with the synths, It’s prominent feature is the piano for sure.  It’s also slower than their 1st single which was a nice change being that the 1st single was a strong dance single.  The 3 girls don’t really sound together in here though and sound a bit off in their overall sounds.  After a while it can get boring because of the slower speed.  The scratching before the chorus was definitly an annoyance in the song ick!  Other than that, the song is pretty ok, though not their best.

2. Breakin’ out

Staccatoed strings start off this dance tune while an announcer speaks out before the guitar comes in.  That begiinning was pretty interesting.  I like the whole dance feel to this song it’s very much like what we would her in clubs.  The girls actually sound good saying ~Breakin’ Out~ which is rare in girl group today.  Chords are also pretty good too….dang why are all the b-sides so far is better than the a-sides?

dream’s 2nd single was a change of pace mostly, I mean a slower pop song; Heart on Wave showed they can do somewhat a good slow pop song, while Breakin’ Out shows more of their talent in the dance genre.  I prefer the latter though, just because I’m used to the dance genre from them.

  4. Trust Your Love (Razor’s Radio Mix)
  5. Trust Your Love (Thunderpuss Radio Mix)
  6. Trust Your Love (Instrumental)
  7. STILL IN LOVE (Instrumental)

1. Trust Your Love

Twinkly sounds actually start this R&B tune off.  It’s cute, but it’s just unusual in the song.  The song itself actually is very well made.  The chorus sounds familiar though, I have no idea how it is, but it just makes me remind of like 90’s R&B. The bridge surprisingly shows how good Kumi can get.  Enjoyable song this is!

2. STILL IN LOVE

So we come into the B-side and actually it’s a lot more hipper than “Trust Your Love”.  It’s got your R&B elements like beats and well, the usual sounds if you know what I mean. Actually I kinda though this song sounds a bit more complete than the A-side.  There’s such a funky beat to it that it just makes me want to tap my foot to it.  Great song!

Kumi’s 2nd single was definitly a pleasant one!  Trust Your Love has got some of the beats that pretty much represented 90’s R&B which is a good reminder. STILL IN LOVE brought funkiness to the single that was even better!

Track Listing

  1. DARK HALF – TOUCH YOUR DARKNESS
  2. Something feel like Heaven
  3. Narctic Boy
  4. REIMEI
  5. Mr.D
  6. White Fusion ~ Kasoi Renai no Tebiki
  7. Dear My Friend -Make Your Shine Way-
  8. Freeter Blues
  9. BREATHLESS NIGHT SLIDER
  10. Edge of the season
  11. ICE BREAKER

1. DARK HALF ~TOUCH YOUR DARKNESS~

I thought it’d be a ballad after the beginning, hell no.  This is a rockin’ song.  Michihiro, the vocalist, sounds kinda bored in thorugh the chorus.  He does get better later in.  The bridge is pretty awesome.  I love Daisuke in this song, he made the song livelier.  Kenichi’s solo was WHOA!  I’m like impressed beyond with him.  Go ICEMAN!

2. Something feel like Heaven

Starting with Daisuke’s finger power, it kind of has a islandy feeling to it,  It eventually does sound even more like it, I was like hehehe, definitly fun.  Though, there is little work in it, since it’s mostly Daisuke and Michihiro at the reins in the song.  Very reminescent to like Sonic the Hedgehogs’s music…..lol and what’s with the girl….she sounds very uhm….XXX rated lol

3. Narctic Boy

It’s got a funky beginning I’ll start off by saying that.  Sounds like there’s a rapper guy in it.  We hear Kenichi come back playing the acoustic.  It’s something you don’t hear from ICEMAN much.  Though the music eventually covers it back up, it was a treat.  I know that this was a single, but it just sounds very filler to me even.

4. REIMEI

REIMEI’s got more of a mellow tone to it, like a elevator song lol.  The random synths is unusual in a song like this, but it really help the boredom with the song.  I have no idea, why I’m even listening it’s just bleh…

5. Mr.D

Ooooo, we’re jumped back in a dance mood with Kenichi powering with his guitar.  Ok, the verses are very fast for me, and they sound a bit like Orange Range in here but with synths.  I was thinking that this song is poppy.  OMG, I love the entire chorus.  I think this is their fun song of the album, I wouldnt blame them, It’s a good listen and funny too.

6. White Fusion ~ Kasou Renai no Tebiki

After the joyride, where brought to this dark, and droning song.  I think Daisuke in the early parts of the tune, was very random.  Though after Michihiro stops singing then it actually sounds good.  After that it turns out to be something you’d her from Red Hot Chili Peppers.  It’s got a strong bass sound and even nicer guitar playing.  I guess the fusion is here.

7. Dear My Friend ~Shine Your Own Way~

A ballad?  From a rock/dance group?  This is just pandemonium.  Lacking any Daisuke/Kenichi.  It’s pretty much a Michihiro solo, though I like how the music sounds like it’s being played by a record player.  There’s an interlude where it leads to more instruments, probably is a good thing, I was getting bored pretty fast.  Still am by the end.

8. Freeter Blues

Haha, very jazzy like here.  Michihiru is definitly is into this song I can tell.  Though he lets himself go too much, as some of his notes are squeaked or very outta tune.  Love, the fact that there’s so much to it and it’s overly catchy. Oh yea, Trumpets!

9. BREATHLESS NIGHT SLIDER

Hmmm?  I’ve seen a close title like that, oh yea T.M.Revolution has a track called “BEDLESS NIGHT SLIDER”.  Though this song beats the latter because it’s at a faster pace.  I can imagine this song being connected to Gundam Wing, it has that sound, where most of T.M.R’s music represents.  I just like the wildness of the song.  Daisuke also won points with his playing.

10. Edge of the season

Ok, I’m also thinking this song is kinda of unusual, the dance beat just doesn’t quite fit.  The guitar also makes point of the reasoning as well.  I didn’t enjoy this song also because it was just too slow.  If it was a bit more alive there prolly wouldn’t have been so many issues.

11. ICE BREAKER

This definitly made me feel like I was in an ice cave, I like how they portray that feeling at the beginning.  Then we got into a synth starting sounding and wow, it drives even further more down the “make the song more cold”.  Though I think this doesn’t have any lyrical content, except for that guy who repeats the same phrase.  It takes a while, but eventually Michihiro comes in late in the tune, but it’s a nice entrance dont ya think?  Still, great ending song.

Song of Avoidance

  • Edge of the season

So ICEMAN’s first album was very catchy, some of the songs were boring but right when I was too bored they came back with an even better track.  My favorite track has got to be the 1st track, totally, ICE BREAKER is probably my 2nd, I just like how that song conveyed the track almost perfectly.  AHHHHH, you should get this album

Kana – Chimame

Track Listing

  1. Chimame
  2. Hone
  3. Momo
  4. Hamushi -Nankotsu Shiki-

1. Chimame

Well, the title is a bit disturbing, Chimame = Blood Blister……ewww.  It sounds very grungy, if you know what I mean.  She eventually gathers momentum in the song, though her voice is very all over the place, and definitly doesn’t fit in a song like this.  I like her commitment in the song.  Then she starts to echo out in the song, actually it sounds pretty good there.  The music is so dirty and dark it’s pretty frightening really.

2. Hone

Does she scream at the beginning, well def took me by surprise.  She sounds like her voice is digitized which also shocks me.  The chorus is very catchy.  I like the guitar riffs.  The chorus is where the songs shine the most, adding in the ghostly sounds in the back really puts a mood in.  Then she starts singing simultaneously with the guitar….very freaky and the end, OMG what was that?

3. Momo

We enter Kana’s depressing song.  She sounds like she’s crying in the song, the first long note she hit, she scratches, and again at the long notes.  I’m surprised to find an Acoustic Guitar playing mostly in this sad song.  Still, it doesn’t really save the song.  I found myself hating Kana staying on one note and purposely messing up the long notes.  Nice try Kana but this “Peach” isn’t good at all.

4. Hamushi -Nankotsu Shiki-

I like the very mysterious beginning.  With a booming drum keeping beat, whistling, bugs, Kana ad-libbing?  It’s almost calm to hear.  I actually like the jungle feeling of the song.  Kana sounds like she’s hypnotized by the song too, as she is blabbing along in the song.  There’s Acoustic playing in with Kana.  Still, it’s pretty much lyrically empty as songs go.

Kana, this single was half/half for me, Hone and Hamushi are definitly cool song in their rights.  Both really put moods for me, which easily gets a point for me. Chimame was alright, but it’s not as great as “Hebi-Ichigo”.  and Momo…..ugh….I can’t believe that it made the album.  Sucks!
