1. POWER OF WORDS

A nice dance track starts us off with one of the two title tracks. The beginning was eerie with its somber piano playing and the airy instrumental.  Then it gets very cool.  I actually enjoyed Rina’s performance of the song, since it definitly put “be happy.” in its place.  It’s a pretty cool opening track.

2. I can’t stop my love for you♥

I still love the opening before the opening chorus.  C’mon the chorus just annoys me to death for some obvious reasons.  Rina sounds pretty bad hitting the chorus like that.  The verses sound alright but it’s just the odd transition to the chorus which also bothers me.  This begins the strings of singles.

3. NAVY BLUE

We take a change into our rock ballad single, NAVY BLUE.  It’s still one of her strongest tracks off the album and it shows.  Rina sounds just right with the rock arrangement.  Still she’s a bit weak in her vocal ability, but it doesn’t hurt the song at all.  Love the strings!

4. Forever You ~Eien ni Kimi to~

Our ballad single, Forever You still is probably her best ballad off the album.  Her voice is stronger here than her last song, so I can take this as a good sign.  She hits a nice high note at the end of the chorus and then electric guitar comes in which still is odd but alright.

5. pink baby’s breath -album mix-

I love that piano entrance.  Another ballad though?  Rina though sounds pretty thin here however, which is sort of normal for her.  Now since it’s an album mix there’s quite a few changes.  It seems the beginning has the same piano opening, but it just seems the song has toned down the R&B genre in the song so it doesn’t really ruin anything important.  Nicer here than the single cut.

6. be distant

After all of that, we go into our winter song, be distant.  It’s got such a mysterious quality to it and Rina making it monotone does make it more weird heh.  When we get into the bridge we start getting the dance beats going and it turns into a softer version of “Winter Gold” by Stephanie.  Still, I love the instrumentation here.

7. WISH

I love the beginning of WISH.  The piano and higher pitched ad-libbed Rina.  The same magical quality can be found right at the start until we get into the 1st verse where she once again tries to be BoA.  This song is more of a better try that her 1st time on “Be Happy”.  It’s got a cool beat and Rina sounds like she’s into the song.

8. Painted Black

I swear, when I heard this, I thought of Ridge Racer, since that series has this kind of music.  I like how she yelled ~PAINTED BLACK~ for sure.  This song is just so good with the album.  The 2nd verse is so cool with her voice being filtered.  Awesome track

9. FAITH

OMG, the first single from the era shoots in and is still a great dance track.  Mixing the rock sounds with her eurobeat stuff is very smart of GIZA.  What’s even better there’s a latin guitar sound playing in the verses which made this more interesting.  The rapping section was pretty bad but FAITH is a good song and its placement couldnt have been better than here.

10. SPARK

SPARK is such a filler track and it’s so apparant here.  The song is more towards rock than dance, but Rina sounds lifeless here and the music is just as much.  Yes, I agree it does ~take one spark, just one spark~ but this is lacking it!

11. crystal pearl

Here is another rock ballad, but I actually kind of enjoyed this song.  It reminds me of a lot of Mai Kuraki’s stuff, then again they are in the same music company, so it isn’t surprising.  Rina does sound good in it, still a little bored sounding but isn’t SPARK bad.  I like the random guitar moments too, which surprising.  As much as it is, it’s a pretty good song.

12. precious pain

I once again fell in love with the start of the song with synths and piano playing.  Then the guitar comes in with some great notes complimenting the synths and piano.  Rina comes in and she sounds pretty damn good.  The chorus for me was pretty memorable, so awesome.  Though I can’t classify what is it more a ballad, or a pop track.  Still one of the better songs.

13. Run up

And then there’s this song.  This song for me was the epitome of what this album was mostly made of, except the rock stuff.  It also stuck out from the album with it’s trance-like beats and Rina’s calm vocals.  Run up was my favorite from the era and this album because it just has such a constant beat.  Even better is Rina’s strong vocals in this song.  Though my favorite part was the middle of the song where she starts to stretch her vocals and lyrics.

14. Can you feel the POWER OF WORDS?

Not that I wasn’t surprised but this being a rock ballad, but it was obvious.  The song had such weird sounding synths too which kinda got me lost.  The song has a more epic finishing sound which was much needed for the album.  Sadly, I was kind of bored with it after a while.  Rina’s vocals were alright, but it wasn’t “Run up”‘s powerful strikes.

Rina’s sophomore album is her best album sold so far and I can see why.  This album had more variation to them and even moreso, the singles definitly made the album really good too.  This is my favorite Rina album since all the songs cept a few bothered me.  I still think that some of the B-side of the era could have been really good choices for the album.
