So like…I’ve been noticing I’ve been filling up the alphabet pretty well…Well I almost there!!!!

BREAKERZ

01breakerz

Yep, I’m not sure what label, if any they are on, but the rocking music is definitly catching on to me.  I’m gonna begin with their debut album and work my way up.

OLIVIA

olivia_whatsin0403

Yeah, OLIVIA is strange of course…and I’ve said I don’t like, but I’ll give her one more chance.  I’ll start with her NANA album before moving to Trinka Trinka.

Zwei

zweiux1

So I just found this duo of ladies surprisingly and definitly fit the role as the loner Z band.  I’ll begin at the start of their careers!!!

Now for the readers…I want a group that starts with an “X” that I can review to complete this…but don’t give me X-JAPAN please…they are my last resort group

Track Listing

  1. a prelude
  2. ComeBAby
  3. Just
  4. Stay Awake
  5. shine

CD 2

  1. ComeBAby (this is the HALFBY REMIX)
  2. Just (RIDDIM PHYSICAL REMIX)
  3. Stay Awake (CBSMGRFC MIXX BEAUTY MIXX)

1. a prelude

I don’t get it what’s with the whole whispering thing, so damn lame.  It’s funny that there’s an orchestra.  ~This is the aircraft’s final approach to nowhere…we expect the arrival time at 14:20.  The sky is clear and the temperature is 24 degrees.  Thank you for choosing Q;indivi soundsystems.  We look forward to meeting you at our aircraft~  WTF does this even mean?  I mean it just doesn’t make any sense at all!!!

2. ComeBAby

The strings from the previous track finally get themselves together and the first vocal track is a bit strange as it isn’t exactly full-on J-tek but more like a waltz maybe with synths.  Singer, Rin sounds alright for the most part, but her voice isn’t superb like Ami’s.  It’s more along the lines of MEG vocals.  That’s not a very endearing comment at the least, but at least it’s bearable.  Ok song, but I think it needs a makeover to make it more complete.

2. Just

Also another track from “BEAUTIFUL TECHNO”, Just takes a more naturistic sound and when it was on the V.A., it was a pretty off-the-wall track and still quite doesn’t make sense, but at least it’s on something that’s all theirs.  Anyways, Just has worse vocals because her vocals are more honky and given the vocoder twisting going around with Rin’s vocals, this song is pretty bad.  I do like the acoustic sound and the chorus is so much better than the verses.  I’m on ends with the song.

4. Stay Awake

Instead of a nature backing mood, Stay Awake had potential to be something cosmic, but then the crickets come in with the acoustic guitar.  Rin’s vocals have gotten better with this track, but she’s sometimes too airy for me to really connect with.  It’s a pretty boring track after all that though.  Just nothing seems to make it stand out and 6 minutes of it, it plain out torture.  There’s birds chirping and a lively piano melody comes in with a light latin touch to try to make it somewhat enjoyable, but this was too late.

5. shine

Why is it that the best track had to be the last one?  shine definitly sounds like the dance music that was well-known back in the 90’s.  Rin’s vocals were givin the echo effect and the music is ambient enough to just chill with and I loved every minute of it.  The chorus could’ve been more exciting, but Rin made the song sound so damn good.  Loved this track.

CD 2

1. ComeBAby (this is the HALFBY REMIX)

ComeBAby replaces the forgetful strings with a summery kind of feeling and some annoying bleeps.  I think this should’ve been the main mix since the song gave an actual feeling of Summer in the song.  Sometimes things got too complex and threw the song off, but otherwise this was a pretty good and appropriate remix.

2. Just (RIDDIM PHYSICAL REMIX)

Just also takes a pretty strange turnaround to the original mix.  There’s some weird synth sound that I’ve never heard before and I quite like it.  The vocals are still a little harsh, but it feels like they fixed it a little bit and the added synths helped this problem out.  What a pretty cool remix.  I dont like the swooping beep…way too loud.

3. Stay Awake (CBSMGRFC MIXX BEAUTY MIXX)

Stay Awake’s remix takes the song into a more jazzy sound which is what the original needed.  Sadly, the song changes minimally and when it does it just goes back to what it was.  There’s some great parts and Rin sounds better here.  I’m surprised it’s that good. Wow the remixes better than the originals???

Q;indivi’s debut is a little on the poor side if you look at their side.  Due to pretty poor singing from Rin and the feeling of emptiness each song pulled…why couldn’t they add more sound.  shine was definitly a good song though and the entire 2nd disc basically blew out the first one out of the water.  Hope they step things up.

Mika Nakashima – CRESCENT MOON

Track Listing

  1. CRESCENT MOON
  2. DESTINY’S LOTUS
  3. AMAZING GRACE
  4. CRESCENT MOON (Instrumental)
  5. DESTINY’S LOTUS (Instrumental)

1. CRESCENT MOON

CRESCENT MOON happens to be a lot more upbeat than “STARS” especially with it’s funk based style and some pretty interesting strings lines.  Actually, it reminds me a lot of “FOCUS” which is kind of funny, but this song is danceable.  The way the song ended was a little shady, but still an exciting song nonetheless.

2. DESTINY’S LOTUS

What’s up with the guy under the auto-tune at the beginning?  That was random.  Anyway our 1st B-side is kind of like “CRESCENT MOON” but kind of worse because of the BKGD vocals disrupted the entire thing and was mad at that.  Mika also sounds a little bored here as well, but I’m not surprised.  Not a very memorable track.

3. AMAZING GRACE

Ugh, I’m no Christian, but I do know enough that I have heard this song and I hate it.  I don’t know why but it’s the overall theme that just doesn’t sit well with me at all.  I thought the beginning was nice with the waves and such.  Mika’s English is definitly questionable because she’s obviously having a hard time pronouncing words in a slow manner and I still hate the song, but I’m not blaming it on her because she gave a good performance, just to a shitty song.

So like…CRESCENT MOON was an alright single.  CRESCENT MOON is very danceable and wished she had more tracks like this because well she excels at it.  DESTINY’S LOTUS was basically a replicant but to a more forgetful degree.  AMAZING GRACE, I hate the song, but I give credit to Mika singing pretty well, other than the lack of English lessons.

Ataru Nakamura – Kaze Tachinu

Track Listing

  1. Kaze Tachinu
  2. Mayoi Ko
  3. Kama Kou Ei ~Tanpopo~

1. Kaze Tachinu

Ataru begins her 3rd era with a ballad.  Kaze Tachinu is a pretty heartfelt ballad and her vocals are pretty soothing to listen to.  There such a grand feeling to the song and it flows really well, including the minor synth passage the comes along to the song.  I just love how her voice just resonates with the track, what a great way to start the era.  At some points I hear her male sounding vocals which is really good, but definitly making Ataru stand out from the rest of the ballad forward singers.

2. Mayoi Ko

Our first B-side is definitly interesting.  It’s basically a mix of blues and folk and enka which is a daunting task, but Ataru passes with its intricate melody and strong vocals from Ataru.  It’s exciting for sure and just brought the fun side of her out, great B-side.

3. Kama Kou Ei ~Tanpopo~

Kama Kou Ei is also a ballad, not surprising.  Just only having a piano backing her up, Ataru showcases more of her vocals here and it actually was a good idea.  Pretty nice way to end the single off with a simple song.

Ataru Nakamura is a force to be reckon with IMO.  Her voice has such strength and with the whole controversy behind her, she’s really stepped into being a lady pretty well, because this single was downright beautiful.  Kaze Tachinu and Kama Kou Ei were perfect examples of how ballads should sound like and Mayoi Ko showed a playful side to her music.  What a great single overall *RECOMMENDED*
