ARTISTS BLOWOUT FIRST OF 2011!!!! February 21, 2011

Well, well, well…from the last blowout til now there have been NUMEROUS RECOMMENDATIONS coming from all over and I can’t thank you guys enough for that since there’s a bunch this time.  However, I closed it down for the time being since this is getting a bit much right?  I know I’m such a giver XD

I’ve also noticed I haven’t been reviewing many older things and I wanna change that for this year since there’s still artists from the last blowout that I have not gotten to.

Also, there’s been a few artists that I’ve grown to enjoy less of in time and I’m thinknig of stopping reviewing them since either they are on hiatus or broken up…this would include: Rentrer en Soi and metronome being a few examples.  Anyways leave a comment saying if I should dump or just leave em there.

Anyways let’s get into the 23!!!! new artists/groups I’ve added

Track Listing

  1. Sakura no Ki ni Narou
  2. Guuzen no Juujiro (Undergirls)
  3. Kiss Made 100 Mile (MINT)
  4. Area K (DIVA)
  5. Ougon Center (Team Kenkyuusei)
  6. Sakura no Ki ni Narou off vocal ver.
  7. Guuzen no Juujiro off vocal ver.
  8. Kiss Made 100 Mile off vocal ver.
  9. Area K off vocal ver.
  10. Ougon Center off vocal ver.

1. Sakura no Ki ni Narou

It hasn’t been too long since “Sakura no Shiori” first landed on our ears and that was a beautiful song from an idol group!  However, Sakura no Ki ni Narou doesn’t have that same grandness that made said old single sound so epic.  I will say for a ballad from AKB, it’s not terrible and the fact there’s solos in the song was good, but it doesn’t hold a candle to “Sakura no Shiori” for sure.

2. Guuzen no Juujiro

So of course on all versions of the single, the Undergirls get a song to their own and Guuzen no Juujiro is quite a change from the ballad A-side.  I kind of like the pop/rock genki synth style of the song and of course with no real solos to be found, the song is quite enjoyable.  It’s at least a lot better than that “Boku Dake no value” mess back on “Beginner” xD

3. Kiss Made 100 Mile

MINT makes a return on “Sakura no Ki ni Narou” with Kiss Made 100 Mile and y’know for being a 5-nin group (also has the same members as they did on their first track on “Beginner”.  To me, their aren’t totally good singers and Kiss Made 100 Mile makes it clear that these five aren’t really suited for one another, but the genki synth music doesn’t do much better either.  Sorry I’ll pass on this.

4. Area K

DIVA also returns again, but there’s different members involved this time and with Area K, I think they scored pretty well, since the kind of classy sound it has mixed in with buzzing synths really stand out on the single.  Add in better vocals than in MINT’s song and you obviously get a much stronger song.  I personally think it’s the best off the single, but it’s still pretty low on favorite land.

5. Ougon Center

And of course, Team Kenkyuusei also returns with a new song and Ougon Center kind of comes off similar like “Kiss Made 100 Mile” with the kind of crappy vocals that plagued it, sadly though Ougon Center has no solos which makes the song a little bit more painful.  I don’t know if it’s the worst song on the single but it’s far from being top notch.

I know that AKB’s next single will probably be pretty epic since Sakura no Ki ni Narou isn’t much better than “Chance no Junban” IMO.  I think DIVA’s song is the best of the single since it sounds different and was pretty catchy while the other 4 had issues in the vocal department.  I don’t know why but they need better singers all-around.
