GENERATION 5: 101-124: THE GAME IS OUT!…yeah I’m late on that one huh? March 11, 2011

So PKMN Black and White has finally been released how’s it going?  Did you like it, hate it, wish there were hot male models in it?!? Tell me about it and leave a message, but in the mean time let’s get into the next batch!

101: Joltik, 102: Galvantula

As our first on the list we get new combination of types!  Joltik and Galvantula are of the Bug/Electric type and I was waiting for something like this to appear.  Obviously by looks it seems to be parallels to Spinarak and Ariados…but there’s differences like Joltik is based more on ticks than anything near arachnids which makes the evolution a bit strange…(not like Remoraid to Octillery weird, but y’know what I mean).  I initially said I wanted to be in my final team, but it wasn’t xD

103: Ferroseed, 104: Ferrothorn

Another new type combination to the series, the Grass/Steel type Ferroseed and Ferrothorn appear.  I’m not sure why, but this was one of the first Pokemon that caught my eyes when they were leaked out.  Maybe it was the colors or just the fact they looked so strange to begin with.  What I know about them is that they have amazing defenses, but damn crappy speed.  Cool Pokemon, and it had earned a slot on my final team.

105: Klink, 106: Klang, 107: Klinklang

When JPN first showed off Klink, I thought it was adorable and kind of silly in a good way.  However, when Klang and Klinklang leaked my face turned into a frown because it doesn’t really “evolve” but more like adds more parts which is a little strange for me.  I like that it’s the only 3 stage PKMN that’s pure Steel, but it’s still not much for me.

108: Tynamo, 109: Eelektrik, 110: Eelektross

Uh-oh, here comes trouble!  Not only they’re pure Electric type, which is normally good, but it has the Levitation ability which makes them have no weaknesses period…think Sableye and you’ll get what I mean hahaha.  While Tynamo is more or less a cocoon for the evolutions and it also doesn’t even learn many moves hahaha and Eelektross can be obtained by using a Thunder Stone on Eelektrik.  The other two are quite awesome, but it’s still something and one of the best in the Generation.

111: Elgyem, 112: Beheeyem

HAHAHA, aliens in PKMN, and I mean actually aliens not like Clefairy and the other cosmic-looking PKMN.  I don’t exactly see the point of them in the game to be honest as they’re also pure Psychic types.  I don’t know how they’re like in the game since I never used them in the game, but I guess they’re cool and omg they’re ALIENS!!  Even cooler is the names that play off “LGM or Little Grey Men” and “BEM or Bug-eyed Monster”.

113: Litwick, 114: Lampent, 115: Chandelure

I’m so happy there’s at least a new Ghost line in the game, even more so Ghost/Fire ^)^.  I also love the fact that it has the best Special Attack of the entire dex, cept for obviously legendaries.  Even though I didn’t have a Chandelure on my final team, I sure would love to own one.  I think it’s one of the cooler designs though it takes a Dusk Stone to obtain one!

116: Axew, 117: Fraxure, 118: Haxorus

So I’m surprised that Iris’ main PKMN is found really late on the Pokedex.  Though I still wanna know how the hell it goes from Fraxure to Haxorus because they haven’t nothing in common in looks besides the tusks.  Add the fact the names are lulzy as hell…I mean Hax r’ us?  Really?  Funny enough though that they aren’t pseudo-legendaries and are of the pure Dragon type….you’d think they would be haha.

119: Cubchoo, 120: Beartic

So we get pure Ice types next and omg Cubchoo has to be one of THE CUTEST PKMN EVER!!!!  I mean I would spend time to catch one of these guys and hug it XD.  Well…maybe do something bout those boogies it has, but whatever.  Beartic though…aren’t we trying to be Ursaring pt. deux?  Even so…why does Beartic have a penis? XD jeeze….weirrrrd…

121: Cryogonal

There’s something really freaky about the other new Ice type, Cryogonal.  I mean beyond the good defenses it has, there’s not much else to really capture this emo snowflake.  It does leave itself open for a pre-evo if they decide to go along with one…but as a stand-alone…it doesn’t seem to work for me and it’s hard enough to find as well XD

122: Shelmet, 123: Accelgor

Wheee, so to answer the Karrablast to Excavalier shtick, you can’t evolve Karrablast without cross-trading with a Shelmet.  Now I can see the resemblances between them…but what the hell is Accelgor supposed to be?  It looks like a ninja…but in a cocoon or something.  Accelgor is pretty fast, but Ninjask is still way faster.  It’s pretty cool and for being an odd Pokemon that this and Karrablast weren’t exclusives for both games >.>

124: Stunfisk

As someone politely said, Stunfisk looks like a Diglett that got ran over by a pick-up.  As it’s the only PKMN with the type combination of Ground/Electric, Stunfisk is actually quite good for looking a bit off…I mean Dunsparce off…  There’s just not much for me to look for this guy.  Though, I still ended up catching the guy.

Funny enough, Galar introduces its variant on Stunfisk which is a Ground/Steel based on bear traps which is hilarious and kind of surprising for whatever animal Stunfisk is supposed to be based on XD

SO NEXT POST WILL BE JUST THE REMAINING NON-LEGENDARIES…SOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAIT TIL NEXT TIME YO!!!!

Momoiro Clover – Mirai Bowl/Chai Maxx

Filed under: Momoiro Clover Z — solarblade @ 3:26 am

Track Listing

  1. Mirai Bowl
  2. Chai Maxx
  3. Zenryoku Shoujo (CD only)
  4. Miral Bowl (off Vocal)
  5. Chai Maxx (off Vocal)
  6. Zenryoku Shoujo (off Vocal) (CD only)

1. Mirai Bowl

Hey, let’s ring a bell to begin the single.  Mirai Bowl, actually at first kind of made me frown because there’s not a lot of singing in the song at least at first since they were talking.  Another problem for me is that the transitioning from the verses to the choruses were just random and felt so weird to me.  That being said, the chorus is actually the best thing on the song since it’s danceish and has a full set of synths in use…even the middle instrumental with the rapping was more eventful than the rest.  What a weird ass song.

2. Chai Maxx

As the other A-side that appears on all three versions of the single, Chai Maxx sounds a whole lot more like an upgrade for me.  I mean the the song is still poppish, but I’m surprised of the guitar-ladened arrangement mixed with the synthyness of them before.  I think the group did a much better job here than “Mirai Bowl” since the music was together and the gals didn’t sound too bad…but there’s some repetitive parts that I would’ve lived without, but that’s nitpicking.

3. Zenryoku Shoujo

Found only on the CD only editions of the single, Zenryoku Shoujo might not be as energetic as “Chai Maxx”, but once again the girls’ vocals are sounding really nice with the synths here.  Though this time, I felt like the song went nowhere with the arrangement and just kind of became rather stagnant and rather boring….hmmm.

As this is Akari Hayami’s final single with the group and now making the group 5-nin, Mirai Bowl was kind of a meh single, after “Pinky Jones” (notice I left out “Momokuri” here).  I felt like Mirai Bowl and Zenryoku Shoujo were just icky tracks and left me in a funk for the most part with the former being transition hell and the latter just being plain boring.  I mean Chai Maxx was the best damn thing on the single…that should tell ya something.  Since Momoclo are now a 5-nin I wonder how much Akari’s departure will affect them.

PUFFY – Thank You!

Track Listing

  1. My Country Road
  2. Jet Love
  3. R.G.W.
  4. Hoshi Girl
  5. Wake up, Make up with ANI Bose (Schadaraparr)
  6. Haru no Uta
  7. Koi no Yama Arashi
  8. Ai no Odyssey
  9. Banzai!
  10. Fish On
  11. NO!
  12. Yokubou
  13. Happy Birthday

1. My Country Road

PUFFY doesn’t waste time to getting into albums.  I mean a mid-tempo pop/rock song with harmonica?  Could it be any better eh?  Now, Ami and Yumi sometimes aren’t very expressive in their vocals and My Country Road has that kind of dragging feeling…but I’m not sure why hahaha.  I think if they added some life to the song, it would’ve been more exciting TBH.

2. Jet Love

As one of the B-sides from “R.G.W.”, Jet Love still is a much needed boost of energy and cleaned up the lack of interest in the previous song entirely.  It even sparks up some reminences of something that The Beach Boys would’ve done…that’s how much nostalgia is in the song and I love it!

3. R.G.W.

Sadly, we get into the first single of the era and it still annoys the hell out of me.  I mean the song is so repetitive and just lame that I’m not sure why they even chose this to be an A-side.  I did like that they tried for a Holiday-themed kind of song, but I was expecting a whole lot more than this piece of junk….

4. Hoshi Girl

Getting out of that pothole, Hoshi Girl sounds a lot harder than I would’ve thought it would, but I kind of like the sound of Hoshi Girl a lot more than the previous songs.  The more edgier arrangement gives the duo a lot more oomph and they weren’t even covered up!  I must say, this is kind of a catchy tune.

5. Wake up, Make up with ANI Bose (Schadaraparr)

Bose…that name sounds familar to me…but that’s because he was featured on one of Rie fu’s tracks.  I thought it was funny getting a sort of new sound at the beginning with PUFFY since it’s kind of electro…but not.  The rappers are a bit icky in the song, but with the girls by themselves, they’re pretty good.  It’s different for sure, but those rappers have got to go.

6. Haru no Uta

Hey! A song about Spring!!!  I kind of liked how they represented it since unlike most of the previous songs, Haru no Uta has an acoustic background and the gals sound more together.  This is what “My Country Road” would’ve sounded like if they added some personality to the song.  Good song here.

7. Koi no Yama Arashi

As the other B-side from “R.G.W.” appears, I’m kind of surprised they added this B-side since it wasn’t very memorable besides the fact that they sound amazing by themselves, but together they seemed to miss the mark.  I don’t think it’s one of the album’s best, but it’s alright.

8. Ai no Odyssey

Another slightly off the road kind of song, Ai no Odyssey surprised me with its arrangement style and the way Ami and Yumi were singing along.  I must say I was turned on by this and the riffs from the guitars and the synth beats were pretty awesome.  I’m not sure whether they were going for hard or just experimental, but the clash kind of worked in their favor.  One of the album’s bests.

9. Banzai!

So all of the B-sides made the album’s cut.  Coming off of “Happy Birthday”, Banzai! might not be as awesome as “Jet Love”, but the whole rockabilly style is kind of cool and has a good, positive energy to it that I just can’t deny to love.  It’s a good song to pick you up and make ya giddy.

10. Fish On

I guess if there was a song to compare it to “Jet Love”, Fish On would be the closest one since there’s a lot of energy, drums, and piano present.  The extra background vocalists do take time to get used to, but otherwise PUFFY did good with this song, but I prefer the former still.

11. NO!

Oh god, the girls do not sound good together as shown in the beginning of the song…talk about awkward.  They fix their long notes together the deeper the song goes but damn was that a bad note.  NO! doesn’t really stand out on the album, but it does remind me of their older music which could be good for sure.  Still, vocals aren’t up to par here.

12. Yokubou

Getting into the last new track on the album, Yokubou is actually one of the album’s more serious songs and like with “My Country Road”, Ami and Yumi kind of sound boring at first, but the chorus totally fixed things up very quickly.  I will say, for serious songs, PUFFY are sometimes hit and miss with them, but they got right this time around.

13. Happy Birthday

Closing the album is the 2nd and final single of the era.  Happy Birthday on the album seems to be sadly slower than the other songs and after “Yokubou”, I kind of wanted them to go out with a bang.  At least the song is moderately catchy as hell and the gals sound good together.  Iono if it was right to end the album this way, but the song is still good.

Song of Avoidance

  • R.G.W.

Looking at other people saying that this was better than their previous albums “honeycreeper” and “Bring It!”, Thank You! must’ve meant those albums really sucked.  I think it’s a good album, but there were some tracks I could’ve lived without.  To me, the girls seem to be hit and miss with songs which is good and bad…but some people like the songs I don’t so it’s yeah haha.  Also, they didn’t put “Dareka ga” on the album?  It was a pretty big single for them and they omitted it?  I wonder why???
