Track Listing

  1. Wired Life
  2. UPGRADE U!
  3. One More Drama -PINGPONG REMIX remixed by dee.c-
  4. Wired Life (No Escape Remix) feat. Rin Okumura (Anime CD edition only)
  5. Wired Life (Anime Size Version)
  6. Wired Life (Instrumental)

1. Wired Life

You know it had to take a lot to replace 2PM’s “Take off” from Ao no Exorcist and I’m holy shit in love with this song.  I love the mysterious air about the song especially in the verses mixed with the cryptic ~cut the rope, cu-cut the rope~ lines.  Granted, Meisa is still kind of vocally shaky especially in the chorus…but the Nao’ymt did a great job hiding it with the verses and the second vocal track that whispers.  Still the chorus is pretty damn catchy and has a lot of punch to it…damn another awesome A-side under her belt.

2. UPGRAGE U!

The only actual B-side comes in UPGRADE U! which does take up a lighter and happier route which is cool and the synths and beat is still pretty much there.  Meisa also decided to keep the filters along as well but it seems to rely on it more which is evident quite shockingly.  It’s a step up after some of the previous B-sides she’s done in her career but there’s a giant gap between where I like this and where I stand with “Wired Life”.

3. One More Drama -PINGPONG REMIX remixed by dee.c-

Where have I seen dee.c before?!? Oh yeah!  It’s the same remixer that did “LOL!”.  Before dee.c’s remix of that song didn’t really change much to the song but added little quirks here and there.  This time it feels like there was a lot that changed around (mainly around the lack of a heavy beat like the original and I feel like it has the same mysterious mood about it like “Wired Life”).  However, the missing beats really throw me for a loop and I’m left wondering why it feels so empty for a remix.  It’s alright, but if you love the original I should warn you this isn’t like the case with “LOL!”.

4. Wired Life (No Escape Remix) feat. Rin Okumura

The previous two songs were found on the normal editions of the single while this remix is found only on the anime edition.  What I learned was that Rin is one of the characters from Ao no Exorcist and he kind of joins Meisa in the song but says the lyrics unlike Meisa who’s still singing it.  It’s an unusual idea on paper and still in sound.  As for the remixed part…there a lot of jerkiness to it but I did love the piano here!  It is pretty much a strange remix, but I’m sure people that love Rin will love this fangasm XD

Damn, after “MAGAZINE”, Meisa has been really getting awesome A-sides and Wired Life is tied up there with the songs I LOVE from her which is a great side to come.  UPGRADE U! is brighter of course and is so much better than “Go Ahead” off the last single so she scored well on that too.  The remixes were OK at best, but nothing I’d keep coming to.  One More Drama was nice but the stuff that made it amazing were gone and we were left with a half-assed remix while Wired Life’s was kind of messy and Rin kept pulling me out of concentration.  I’d say go for the main songs and not the remixes here.

AAA – CALL/I4U

Filed under: AAA — solarblade @ 4:47 am

Track Listing

  1. CALL
  2. I4U
  3. CRAZY GONNA CRAZY (2011 Ver.) (CD C only)
  4. CALL (Instrumental)
  5. I4U (Instrumental)

1. CALL

Hey, I have to admit that I was slowly losing faith in AAA since the Komuro haxing began, but CALL, like “Dream After Dream” is seriously an amazing song from the 7-nin co-ed group.  The better reason that this song is just that great is that Shuta and Shinji are actually friggin featured in this song and have solo lines which I think might be a first in A-sides they’ve released.  It’s upbeat, happy like “PARADISE” and has a bit of class thrown in.  My only frowning comment is that once again they cut the dancebreak out of the song like they did to “Makenai Kokoro” but this one felt more odd…the cut makes it feel awkward when it gets to it’s supposed spot.  Still best A-side of the 4 released this year!

2. I4U

The first thing that comes to mind when I4U starts is “MUSIC!!!” and “Welcome To This World” with its bright and summery pop feel to it.  I mean after “CALL” this seems a little weird and probably would’ve felt better along with “No more No cry”.  The other thing is that it’s really only the primary singers getting solo lines which is a step back but whatever I don’t mind it.  Not bad but thank god it’s a secondary A-side XD.

3. CRAZY GONNA CRAZY (2011 Ver.)

Just like their previous single they featured a rearranged self-cover of a song…though this is also a cover as well…weird.  CRAZY GONNA CRAZY was off that crap cover album they did and I wasn’t exactly sure if I would enjoyed this since it’s one member less and nearly a minute longer in length.  To be fair, the revisioned CRAZY GONNA CRAZY isn’t as good as the first time the group tackled the song.  They took out the guitars!!!  WTF…that was like one of the reasons I loved the tune.

Seeing as this is the second and final single before their 2nd best-of “#AAABEST” is released, this was FAR MORE worthy of a single than “No cry No more” ever could try for.  Minus the CRAZY GONNA CRAZY revision the other two tracks are songs AAA are best known for…energetic dance tunes and fun summer songs.  Yeah, even though CALL is the only song that goes on the best-of I hope that after it they ditch Komuro and take new producers in because they are losing the vision they had from the beginning and that was hitting all kinds of different styles of music!

DUSTZ – spiral

Filed under: DUSTZ — solarblade @ 4:15 am

Track Listing

  1. spiral
  2. warning
  3. Brilliant Day (DJ BASS Low-Life-Life Dogs Mix)
  4. spiral (Anime Ver.)

1. spiral

Granted that this is my first DUSTZ song I’ve heard from the group but I get School Food Punishment vibes from spiral but that’s really only in the beginning since the rest of the song sounds different.  I like Ray’s more scratchy vocals but his English is pretty accented and kind of tough to understand but he throws French into the mix and it really catches me off guard at how it fits the song.  It’s so upbeat and good, but sometimes the vocals hinder it.  It’s an interesting song though.

2. warning

Getting into the single’s B-sides, warning actually has a cool opening with disc scratching and Ray doing a little speaking.  I do think that after time the disc scratching gets annoying but the mid-tempo song actually was awesome!  Ray doesn’t exactly do a lot of singing since he’s speaking in a lower tone is really awesome.  Sadly, the song is only 3 minutes and the best part was really near the end…I was disappointed that it wasn’t longer because it had the workings of epicness!

3. Brilliant Day (DJ BASS Low-Life-Dogs Mix)

So the single closes with a remix of their 2nd major single Brilliant Day.  Sadly I have not heard the original yet so the remix is probably a place where I can’t exactly compare it.  It’s fast and almost garage-band like but with dance beats thrown in.  I’m not really a fan of the remix since it’s a bit jarring and poor Ray is filtered like crazy.

If I can get passed Ray’s vocals and his meh Engrish, I will say that I can find myself loving this band as quickly as I did with ONE OK ROCK.  The thing that makes DUSTZ stand out is that they incorporate French lyrics with the JPN and ENG they do to make them stand out amongst the multitude of other J-rock bands mixing it with synths.  spiral might be the fourth major single (album prolly coming next) and the second since their only female member NAOKI left but this is a fun song and it’s gritty and cool.  warning though I think is my favorite since it was dark and just led into some awesome parts…but was too short!  The remix is eh…typical failed rock song tried to remixed…

FLOW – Hey!!!

Filed under: FLOW — solarblade @ 3:40 am

Track Listing

  1. Hey!!!
  2. Metamorphose
  3. COLORS -PIANO HOUSE Mix-
  4. Hey!!! -Beelzebub Opening Mix-
  5. Hey!!! -Instrumental-

1. Hey!!!

I seriously was reading for something hardcore from FLOW since they’ve been on such a weird streak since the “MICROCOSM” era.  Hey!!! is pretty fierce of a rock song KEIGO and KOHSHI sound so energetic and lively.  I liked they’re keeping up with their rock/synth style they’ve been incorporating for a while and the mixture just works for me.  It’s impressive and I’m happy to see something rockin’! (and original) XD

2. Metamorphose

Then again it also has been a while since we’ve seen a fun song from the band and Metamorphose fits as the summer song release but it reminds me of the mini-album they released full of those tunes but that’s ok because it’s got energy and KOHSHI and KEIGO really pulled off the fast singing.  Yeah, this was a pretty good B-side as well and I wanna hear more of this  in the future.

3. COLORS -PIANO HOUSE Mix-

It seems FLOW has been on this shtick with remixing their big anime singles (despite the last release from the band was an anime best-of of their songs).  COLORS is one of the few FLOW songs that I’ve heard before starting to fully get into them and I loved it.  The new version of it takes the hard edge from the original out and replaces with synths and piano/strings and it’s a little oddball-ish for me being a fan of the original.  It’s a bit better than the other old A-sides that have been remixed of lately so that’s good I think.

In the era so far…(I really don’t know if it’s the third or first since that “FLOW ANIME BEST” got in the way) I must say that Hey!!! is their best single yet.  I love Hey!!! and Metamorphose quite a bit since both styles have been long missed when they started being lighter and doing covers.  The COLORS remix was a little unorthodox but still pretty enjoyable and does a good job being a different entity to the original.
