1. Toki no Kane

Opening the album up is Toki no Kane and it opens the album in a nice fashion being all consistent in it’s rhythm and sound.  I hearing a lot of bass in the song and I really liked that about this song!  Also Yuuta’s vocals are pretty solid but he does kind of strains it a bit in places but it’s nothing very noteworthy.  It’s a good start to the album at least and basically sets up for what the album is mostly going to sound like.

2. Balance Doll

The only A-side to represent the era, Balance Doll is still quite good and is a bit more quick-paced than the opening song which is good and I’m loving the raw feeling I get from this song still.  Yuuta also sounds much stronger vocally as well which is a surprise for me too.  Yeah, I’m still pretty much enjoying this song.

3. Gairoju

Since from here on towards the end is new tracks, I was wondering how it’d turn up, starting with Gairoju.  It’s pretty much a basic mid-tempo Prague song but there’s some interesting things like the way his voice comes through in the chorus.  It’s kind of catchy actually and I’m liking how the band sounds in this one.

4. Yoru ni Toketa Kanransha

I find myself moving my head with the swing of the rhythm in Yoru ni Toketa Kanransha but there’s not a lot of sound when compared to the previous three songs.  I mean if they added synths and replaced Yuuta with Yumi from SFP, I would swear this would be more for them funny enough.  It’s interesting, but needs more sound in it, I think.

5. Aki Yure

As the only track that passes 5 minutes in length, I was expecting Aki Yure to be more of a ballad considering that fact.  However, it’s pretty poppy and bright when compared to the previous ones.  I like the funky rhythm from the guitars and such and it has this really *life is good* kind of sound which is what I wanted to hear on the album…there’s even a bass solo…AWESOME!  Good song to be found in the middle of the album.

6. Gosenfu no Myakudou

The direct middle of the album and bringing the band back to some fuller arrangements is Gosenfu no Myakudou.  It isn’t fully like “Balance Doll” but has also a bright vibe like “Aki Yure” did.  I’m also noticing Yuuta singing a bit more louder as well which stood out the most next to the aggressive nature of the song.  I like it a lot actually.

7. Snow Run

I like that Prague continues to gain a bit momentum in their music with Snow Run.  I’m loving the quick-paced guitar riff in the verses.  I think it’s my favorite off the album since it kept me interested all the way through and Yuuta didn’t have many problems singing in the tune.

8. Kasaki no Kao

Probably the oddest song on the album, Kasaki no Kao features synths in the song and the funky rhythm really gives it an interesting Red Hot Chili Peppers’ kind of feel which is pretty cool but the synth line is pretty abstract and so unusual to hear in a Prague song.  It does get better after a while, but it’s a little experiment that didn’t really hurt that band that much.

9. Kakkuu

At about 2:30 in length, Kakkuu really gets the ball rolling right from the start and has this rather 50’s diner-rock kind of feel which is pretty cool and Yuuta’s vocals actually sound really good mixed with the song.  I’m a little disappointed at how short it really was but it’s kind of catchy for all intents and purposes.

10. Circus Life (Album Version)

Probably my least favorite choice to have picked to have included from their mini-album, “Hanataba” but Circus Life made its way onto the album.  At first it wasn’t really made evident that anything totally changed in the song because it’s the same wonky vocals and arrangement but the last minute was where the changes happened.  It went from just guitar leading the song to the end but the album version has keyboard and guitar.  Kind of a strange thing to add but whatever, it wasn’t really my favorite to begin with so it didn’t change my viewpoint of it.

11. Taiyou to Shounen

Putting the album to a close, we have our final new song and at first I kind of thought it would never get going with a lengthy intro.  There’s some interesting things that go on in the song like a very ethereal kind of bandwork at play here.  It felt maybe a little too unattatched since there’s places where there’s too much music and not enough singing…kind of boring of a song!

Song of Avoidance

  • Taiyou no Shounen

For the most part I actually quite enjoyed Prague’s sophomore effort but I can’t say if it’s better than “Perspective” since I haven’t head that quite yet.  Most of the songs are quite good and shows a lot different sides to the band.  There were a couple of blah songs but that’s to be expected with these kind of bands nowadays.  Good album but nothing very amazing.
