1. Nippon Egao Hyakkei
Oh so MomoClo have taken another dose of WTF it seems and it shows in the A-side of the single because this song continues with the wacky stuff the group has been continually known for. Nippon Egao Hyakkei though is a new direction for the girls because they kind of dived into Ondo which is always a fun style to listen to. I actually really found this surprisingly good with the random Ondo-y things going and then the synth lines and a surprise amount of good singing found here. Makes up for the meh-ness from “Otome Sensou”.
2. Nippon Egao Hyakkei (Guest: Hayashiya Kikuou)
I’m not exactly sure what’s exactly different between the two tracks because it felt like the same song overall. However, it seems that it’s about 30 seconds longer which must mean that something was added in! Oh hey…after the first chorus a guy comes in and just talks under a beat of the song. Otherwise, it’s the same song.
3. Morifu da yo! Zenin Shuugou
Continuing on their randomness, Morifu da yo! is kind of messy when compared to the leading track. It doesn’t help that the girls are singing in a higher pitch and they sound a bit all over the place. I do kind of like the arrangement though since it kind of reminds me of various things like anime and video games. Plus I love the ~Momokuro, momokuro, momokuro, momokuro~ parts. There’s even a slow and draggy part in the song which sounds AMAZINGLY random with the girls just yelling all over the place.
4. Better is the Best
It’s pretty cool that UFI gets another song (even if it’s a strange place to give them one). Compared to the other songs, Better is the Best is kind of the safe song on the single since it’s light and doesn’t really depend on the wackyness of the normal. However, I’m kind of surprised with the talking in the verses…it just seems a little lazy.
Strange to see a single like this being released (I’m not sure where it fits in MomoCloZ’ discography). I have to say, Nippon Egao Hyakkei makes up for “Otome Sensou’s” lackluster release. The main track is super random and so darn catchy that it ranks up there with the group’s best. Though I will say the other version of the song is pretty useless. Morifu da yo! was pretty good too oddly enough and Better is the Best is kind of bland for them LOL…strange single, but pretty good overall.
