  3. Bet ~Tsuioku no Roulette~ (Instrumental)

1. Bet ~Tsuioku no Roulette~

The duo return for a second A-side in 2012? WOW!  Bet really is something cool from the them since they have more of an electro style going for the song.  Plus Takami’s vocals aren’t as tragic as I kind of thought they were in “Wild Butterfly”.  It’s a fun track and I enjoyed Daisuke’s arrangement this time around.

2. Let me go

The B-side is a little different (then again their B-sides have all been strange experimentations.  Let me go is a lot more poppier and techno which is fitting along with the single.  What I’m surprised is how catchy this song is!  I’m really liking Takami and the jittery nature of the tune.  Though the chorus is a little screwy but this song is actually one of the better B-sides from them!

Closing out this REALLY long era for their album, “Secret Cluster”, Bet is probably my favorite of the 6 singles that are represented on the album.  The leading track is energetic and fun to listen to while the B-side is poppy and fun as well, though the chorus is a bit shady lol.  Can’t wait for the album to leak!

Minami Kizuki – Ai Tsumugi/Shiawase no Tane

Filed under: Minami Kizuki — solarblade @ 7:20 am

Track Listing

  1. Ai Tsumugi
  2. Shiawase no Tane
  3. Ai Tsumugi (Karaoke)
  4. Shiawase no Tane (Karaoke)

1. Ai Tsumugi

>.> REALLY?  Are we really reusing this song as an A-side again?!?  I guess due to how well-known Ai Tsumugi is, It became the primary A-side once again.  Reviewing it for the third time, the song still doesn’t seem to really impress me much because of it hinderences from Minami’s shima-uta style.  I just really can’t get into why this song is popular enough to have English and Chinese versions (digitally released though in 2011) and now the original reappears as an A-side, it baffles me.

2. Shiawase no Tane

The other A-side, which is a new track, Shiawase no Tane is a bit more joyous and upbeat of a song which is something I’ve started to really enjoy from Minami.  She sounds straightforward with her vocals and sounds happy to be doing the song.  It’s really cute and something I would love more from her in the future!

As this is the 4th single in the era, this one kind of seemed rather pointless seeing as Ai Tsumugi is being promoted once again as the primary song.  I still feel that style of her voice is the main problem with that song, beyond that it’s kind of a typical ballad from her.  Shiawase no Tane though is cute, upbeat, and just very bright and something I can really enjoy from her!  Yay!

Mix Speaker’s, Inc. – SKY HEAVEN

Filed under: Mix Speaker's Inc. — solarblade @ 6:18 am

Track Listing

  1. SKY HEAVEN
  2. Tooi Kaze

1. SKY HEAVEN

I actually came into this song assuming the worst, but SKY HEAVEN is probably my favorite Mix Speaker’s song since I’ve started reviewing them!  There’s just something aobut the song that really works from the straight-forward rock arrangement to MIKI and YUKI’s solo and melodic lines together.  The overall song is quite breezy and the strings really add to the experience…oh yeah this is pretty good!

2. Tooi Kaze

Taking a slower route for the B-side, Tooi Kaze doesn’t strike me as well as the A-side, but it seems like MIKI gets a little more time while YUKI kind of acts as support.  I think it’s a little more stripped down, but I’m not exactly the biggest fan of the song to be honest.

Closing out the era before their upcoming album, SKY HEAVEN is definitely a step up from their last single, “Shiny tale”.  The leading track is awesome and powerful and just blew me away on how good the band can be.  Tooi Kaze though whule nice they took things slower and with a less powerful arrangement, the song itself didn’t really stand out to me.  Looking forward to the album (even though “Shiny tale” is on it XD

PASSPO☆ – WING

Track Listing

  1. WING
  2. Dom Dom Freedom
  3. 2DAYS (CD+Individual Handshake Event only)
  4. WING (Instrumental)
  5. Dom Dom Freedom (Instrumental)
  6. 2DAYS (Instrumental)

1. WING

With the theme of German Metal for this A-side, I was kind of expecting WING to be ridiculous and out of place like they were trying to be Rammstein for a second.  I can see where the influence of the style is in this song and I actually kind of approve it.  It’s a bit more heavier and sounds a LOT better from “Natsuzora HANABI” at least.  Everyone gets a solo and their rock vocals are pretty strong too!  I even would say this is their best of the trilogy of singles!

2. Dom Dom Freedom

I guess this metal phase continues for the B-side which has such a cool riff in the beginning!  Though unlike “WING”, the song is a bit more bright, but the song continues to have this epic guitar arrangement and the ladies all sound just as good as in the lead track.  The chorus is a little meh, but overall the song is mostly good!

3. 2DAYS

To me, 2DAYS is kind of of the lightest of the three tracks and it oddly reminds me of a lighter “Next Flight” but the vocals are still there and they sound rather good for the song.  Even some of the filtering is kind of cool to me.  Definitely a cool track!

As the trilogy comes to a close, WING to me is probably the best single PASSPO☆ has had since becoming a major label group!  WING is definitely an edgy metal song and they pulled it off real good, to the point where it surpasses “Next Flight”!  Dom Dom Freedom is also quite good if you excuse that chorus….everything else was good!  Even 2DAYS managed to be really good and different for the group!  One can wonder that after this, an album will come….all rockin’ goodness!!!!
