  3. Topology (Anime ver)
  4. Topology (off Vocal)
  5. Kizuna no Kesshou (off Vocal)

1. Topology

After the energy from her last single “Chaos Logic” she once again pushes the brakes and releases Topology which is another ballad like “Hisenkai Jeniakku”.  This song does take time to grow because it starts off quite bare and boring but grows into this dramatic chorus which is quite a nice way to treat the song (especially with electric guitar thrown in).  It’s nice and pleasant overall, though nothing that really pulls out the epic factor.  I think she could do better and the song does sound like stuff from “spark!”.

2. Kizuna no Kesshou

Though I would be lying if I was shocked with the B-side of the single.  I was expecting another light song like “Topology” but when I started Kizuna no Kesshou, the song is heavy and would have suited the “Chaos Logic” single a lot better than here…it’s a total opposite basically.  I love the energy and Kanako sounds great in this song!

After how much I liked “Chaos Logic” I wasn’t surprised that Topology would less liked.  Topology is a nice ballad, but not something I probably will remember once her album is announced, just kind of those background songs.  At least Kizuna no Kesshou brighten things up with its loud arrangement and energetic tone from Kanako…with two singles announced coming up, this girl is definitely working her butt off lol.

Up Up Girls – Respectokyo/Sutorera! ~Straight Up!~

Track Listing

  1. Respectokyo
  2. Sutorera! ~Straight Up!~
  3. Respectokyo (Instrumental)
  4. Sutorera! ~Straight Up!~ (Instrumental)

1. Respectokyo

For the next UUG single, it seems like Respectokyo pulls us back to something like “Namen na” or “UPPER ROCK” with having much more of an electro sound than their normal idol pop/rcok song.  I kind of like the song because of the arrangement, but I’m not totally sold on the fact that there’s a lot of speak-singing going here which usually takes me out of the song.  I don’t know if it’s better than “Chopper☆Chopper”, but I guess it’s something right?

2. Sutorera! ~Straight Up!~

If you were looking for more something a bit poppy in style, Sutorera! might just be what you’re looking for because it’s definitely more comfortable of a song than “Respectokyo” is.  Though with that being said, the song isn’t totally original and doesn’t bring much to the table if anything.  I do like the xylophone melody being tacked on giving that cute factor…but damn…stop it with the repping up up up up up so much!!!

As their second single under T-Palette, I don’t know if this single was better than their last single or not.  Respectokyo is OK, but the speaking of lyrics just doesn’t work here this time around.  Sutorera! is a bit average, slightly cute…eh.  Yeah this single wasn’t too memorable for me and there’s another single this week?  Jeeze….

supercell – The Bravery

Track Listing

  1. The Bravery
  2. She is my senior
  3. Aozora
  4. The Bravery (TV Edit)
  5. The Bravery -Instrumental-
  6. Aozora -Instrumental-
  7. The Bravery (TV Edit) -Instrumental-

1. The Bravery

I was loathing coming into this single because of my dislike of Koeda (as everyone knows).  It seems like ryo wanted to try something different than something like “Giniro Hikousen” and FINALLY ryo found something that actually works for her because she doesn’t sound dreadful, but once again the song is TOO long (6 minute song) and it’s a rock song.  I actually quite surprised at how much I enjoyed The Bravery and is about as good as “My Dearest” if not better.

2. She is my senior

I found it strange that our next song doesn’t have an instrumental, but then again this song is a 3 minute track with Koeda and acoustic guitar only.  You can tell Koeda has gotten some vocal training in between this single and “Giniro Hikousen” because her voice actually has a stronger tone and sounds like nasally.  Plus the added emotions are quite nice to listen too as well, but she needs to stay away from high notes she can’t hit.  Basic, but nice nonetheless.

3. Aozora

Another rock track, but includes whistling?  Yup, that’s what Aozora is all about, but the arrangement from ryo does take some strange turns with the minor tones I keep hearing.  I wish it was just a bit faster since I honestly feel like the tune would sound WAY BETTER if it was quicker overall.  It’s not bad, but quite forgetful.

Wow, a Koeda/ryo single that didn’t make me wanna kick something.  The Bravery is actually the best single I’ve heard since ryo switched singers out!  The Bravery (while a bit long) was a solid track and Koeda sounds passable!  Aozora is rockin’ too, but it could use a bit of a tempo boost and She is my senior was simple but nice (minus some sour notes).  I’m happily surprised by this.

Porno Graffitti – Matataku Hoshi no Shita de

Track Listing

  1. Matataku Hoshi no Shita de
  2. Gokujou Landing
  3. Mukaiawase
  4. Matataku Hoshi no Shita de <Anime Ver.>

1. Matataku Hoshi no Shita de

I wasn’t expecting the duo to put out something so anime-friendly with Matataku Hoshi no Shita de, but they did and it really has the same backbone instrumentation with strings and the melody just sounding so opening friendly.  It’s a bit of stretch because the band doesn’t usually sound this plain, but it also sounds quite refreshing when put next to their past singles.  That just doesn’t seem right, but I think I dig the song.

2. Gokujou Landing

Then again I feel the same about Gokujou Landing which is more or less similar to the A-side but with more emphasis on the guitars.  Sadly, this one didn’t leave the same impression on me since it sounds just a little bit too vanilla and Akihito doesn’t sound that great in the song either but it could just be me.

3. Mukaiawase

At least the other B-side of the single is a bit more different than the last two tracks.  Yeah, it’s an acoustic ballad and I think this song suited the art cover I used just perfectly.  It’s like one of those songs you would hear your friend playing around the campfire.  Akihito sounds pleasant and gives a much better vocal performance over “Gokujou Landing”.  Not bad, not bad.

PG’s 2nd single of the era, Matataku Hoshi no Shita de was a good single overall and is one of the better ones I’ve reviewed since I started reviewing them likewise.  The leading track is a bit formulaic but it stood out amongst their last couple of singles.  Mukaiawase was also nice if you’re looking for a good ballad from them.  As for Gokujou Landing…not bad, but it’s a clone of the A-side with meh vocals.  Not bad though, a smidge better than “Kageboshi”.
