1. Wagamama Ki no Mama Ai no Joke
Kicking the single off, Wagamama Ki no Mama Ai no Joke is a pretty damn heavy song for the group. Of course they still haven’t escaped the electro sound that the group has been more heavily been into. I love the intro and the space of music after a LOT…very badass! As we get deeper into the track, the changes are quite awesome and the chorus is very energetic and fast. I also love the ~aisaretai! aisaretai!~ lines and the last one that we hear from Riho, Fukuchan, and Maachan. Actually most of the members held their own in the song and I was loving this immediately!
2. Ai no Gundan
Even though I ended up liking “Kimi Sae Ireba Nani mo Iranai” after the review, it was clear it had some time to win me over. HOWEVER, I was instantly in love with Ai no Gundan! Even more than the primary A-side. There’s just something that works with electro and saxophones that makes this song rise on top. Plus I feel like we hear more from Sakura in this song and she sounds great (plus she isn’t treated as the giant voice like she was in “Brainstorming” and “Help me!!”). I love the building of the bridges and the verses are pretty cool. Though it all came together for the chorus and the middle8 section. Yeah this was a fun song overall as well…definitely one of my favorites this year!
3. Makeru Kishinai Kon’ya no Shoubu
As the main B-side that features all the members, Makeru Kishinai Kon’ya no Shoubu follows suit after the previous two tracks, but it seems this song is a tad bit slower though. There’s a lot of ~whoa oh ohs~ throughout the song and they feel like they’re the hook of the song haha. I think the song could’ve been done in a faster tempo and it would’ve had a better effect to listeners because it’s not a bad track, but honestly…it needs a bit more life.
Then we get into the split membered tracks starting with Bouya which pairs Sayumi, Mizuki, Haruka, Haruna, and Masaki together. The instant I start the song I’m immediately thrown back to “Tokimeku Tokimeke” with the faster synth arrangement and almost cutesy vibe because of Sayu’s quips throughout the song. I have to say though, this song is catchy as hell and I’m loving it! I’m actually surprised at how nice Harunan sounds when compared to her at debut, she actually fits! Definitely the B-side of the single to listen to first!
5. Funwari Koibito Ichinensei
The remaining members: Riho, Sakura, Ayumi, Erina, and Kanon get the other B-side and I was looking forward to this because you have 4 strong singers (everyone except Eripon) involved. This song is the slowest of the 5 and once again I kind of get dejavu from it reminding me of “Watashi no Dekkai Hana”. Riho, Sakura, and Kanon are the only ones singing in the song however. Eripon and Ayumin take the rapping sections and while it’s not bad, the song overall was uneventful and I can’t seem to remember it.
Their first single without Reina and people were worried! They are having their biggest single in a LONG time and its great to see why. The great songs on this single has to be both A-sides and Bouya. They were just awesome tracks and of course fits in with their other glorious electro songs they’ve put out since last year! Makeru Kishinai Kon’ya no Shoubu is pretty good as well, but the BPM should’ve been raised some to have been amazing! However, the only meh song is Funwari Koibito Ichinensei because those kind of idol/R&B/rapping tracks don’t work well for me. Even though their next release is a self-cover album, I hope this makes the 14th album ^_^
