I was definitely excited to know that Ju=Ju were getting an EDM track on as the leading A-side since I don’t feel like they’ve tackled it quite yet in comparison to the other H!P acts. The glossy arrangement is pretty neat and it flows smoothly. Surprised that a lot of the song was either Tomoko/Sayuki or Karin/Akari/Yuka (evident in the choruses) but also moreso on Sayubee because she got a lot of the ending lines and the ad-libs (damn those ad-libs are goooood). The only issues is really how the mid-8 was treated because that glitchy vocals from Sayubee were just nasty. Otherwise this is definitely a lot memorable than what “Black Butterfly” brought.
2. Date ja nai yo Uchi no Jinsei wa
As for the other A-side, Date ja nai… is something I would’ve expected from S/mileage giving it’s fast energy and horns/piano mix. Sadly, something about the song just doesn’t work for me. It’s kind of how “Arekore Shitai!” ended up for me. To be honest, I wish there was less Sayuki here since her voice is kind of a struggle a lot of the time (weird since I liked it in “Senobi”). Actually this is more of a song I would see C-ute do actually. Either way, this song wasn’t well registered for me.
Wow, it wasn’t very long for this single to come out. I am wondering when their album will be announced because they have a butt-ton of songs at their disposal now. This single overall is slightly more polarizing than their previous single in almost a “Hadaka no Hadaka no Hadaka no KISS/Arekore Shitai!” way. Senobi is great EDM song for them and shows off their cool side well while Date ja nai yo Uchi no Jinsei wa was trying to be cutesy, but kind of cool but missed its mark…Man…even the Kenshuusei (trainees) are getting an album >.>
