1. Fight 4 Real

I was curious to see that ALTIMA returned but was pretty happy to see the trio return again with a new A-side.  I like that sat kind of switched his sound by adding some gritty guitars to go alongside his style of music giving a heavier song.  Though the melody when Maon sings sound almost distinctly like “Decade”.  motsu of course has his moments and raps.  Overall, it’s not bad and kind of fun to listen to.

2. NORADRENALINE

It seems like ALTIMA’s B-sides usually intrigue me more than the leading track.  It begins with a lot of synths and a motsu-led rap and he sounds a lot more exciting than in “Fight 4 Real” and Maon plays around his voice.  It kind of reminds me of “GHETTO BLASTER” from m.o.v.e but not as urbanized.  It’s a cool song overall and sounds so original to listen to.

As their 4th and final single before their debut album, “TRYANGLE” drops, Fight 4 Real is on the same level as all the other singles.  The leading track is good and all, but once again screams fripSide…luckily NORADRENALINE sounded more original and give the trio a little more edge overall…can’t wait for the album!

ALTIMA – Burst The Gravity July 23, 2012

Track Listing

  1. Burst The Gravity
  2. CYBER CYBER
  3. Burst The Gravity -instrumental-
  4. CYBER CYBER -instrumental-

1. Burst The Gravity

I’m starting to wonder why ALTIMA hasn’t strived for something different in styles of music because I’m starting to feel as if Burst The Gravity isn’t nothing different from “I’ll believe” and “ONE” since they have that anison/trance style going again.  I do feel like this is better because I can remember the song a lot better than “ONE”.  I still kind of wonder if their first album (whenever that comes out) will be too monotonous for me at this point).  At least Maon still sounds great and motsu’s rap is still fiery.

2. CYBER CYBER

At least I can say I was pretty surprised with CYBER CYBER since it was more motsu’s deal than Maon’s.  Of course I’m used to motsu’s raps but I’m just surprised he was leading the track.  Maon is present but her voice is heavily filtered at first, but once she comes in on her slow parts, she sounds pretty hitting those incredibly high notes.  It’s energetic and is gonna be a fun song to hear live…but can someone tell me why the song ended with a sneeze?!?

ALTIMA’s 3rd single and I’m just not into their same-sounding material as much anymore.  I mean these two songs are kind of carbon clones (not so much CYBER CYBER because it is a motsu-heavy song) but sat’s arranging skills are getting tiring (like fripSide’s stuff).  I hope the next release (be it an album or another single) be less bland.

ALTIMA – ONE February 29, 2012

Track Listing

  1. ONE
  2. WISH i WISH
  3. ONE (instrumental)
  4. WISH i WISH (instrumental)

1. ONE

Not gonna lie, when I first heard ONE, I got dejavu vibes from this song because it does remind me of “I’ll believe” in many ways like the quiet intro before turning into a eurodance track.  Though unlike their debut, ONE is actually a bit more brighter and has a bit more electric guitar involved.  I actually liked this track more funny enough since I thought Maon sung a lot better and motsu did his raps better.  My only thing is that there wasn’t a lot of power getting into that chorus and that made me a little sad bu this is still a good song!

2. WISH i WISH

The B-side for the single, WISH i WISH kind of suffers from the m.o.v.e disease of songs that are slow and lifeless for me.  I think it was meant to be a mid-tempo kind of song but I think it deserves to be a whole lot faster than it should be.  Meh, I think I’ll just pass this song up since the only thing that’s making this song work is Maon.

ALTIMA’s second single I guess could be even with their first, “I’ll believe”.  Though the songs themselves aren’t equal.  I say that ONE was a much better A-side for sure and stood out to me in sound.  However, I felt WISH i WISH was poor when compared to “-Indefinitely-” for sure, those kind of songs drive me insane because they would sound SOOOO much cooler at a faster tempo.

ALTIMA – I’ll believe February 27, 2012

Track Listing

  1. I’ll believe
  2. -Indefinitely-
  3. I’ll believe -instrumental-
  4. -Indefinitely- -instrumental-

1. I’ll believe

I love the intro opening with Maon singing by herself.  After that the song speeds up and gets into this synth anime/eurobeat track and of course motsu is shooting his raps alongside Maon.  I’m surprised that it’s that long of a song but I’m enjoying it all the way.  Everyone sounds good and oddly enough reminds me of m.o.v.e & fripSide (but a little more on that later).

2. -Indefinitely-

I’m surprised the B-side is actually longer than “I’ll believe”.  At first this sounds like an anime intro with the way it begins slowly but gradually gains energy the longer it goes.  Funny enough, I get the same vibes that I do with the A-side which is pretty disappointing when it’s put that way but I do think -Indefinitely- is a bit more darker and Maon is allowed to sing in a more stronger sound.  Definitely the better song though.

It’s awesome to see three well-known people coming together to form a quote-on-quote super group.  I mean we have Maon Kurosaki who’s already a name standing out amongst anison fans and there’s motsu who’s time in m.o.v.e is amazing and sat who’s the producer of fripSide!  I love the idea but I hope sat doesn’t make the mistakes he’s done with fripSide (what I mean, very sameish arrangements with the same sounds and shit…)  It’s so weird though because I get deja vu here where ALTIMA looks like another m.o.v.e (even though the latter are still releasing).  Overall, I’ll believe is a pretty good debut single but I thought -Indefinitely- was the better song for sure!
