Track Listing

  1. LIVE
  2. MAGIC
  3. MAZE (Regular only)
  4. DARLIN’ (Regular only)
  5. TWINKLE (Limited only)
  6. LIVE (Original Instrumental)
  7. MAGIC (Original Instrumental)
  8. TWINKLE (Original Instrumental)

1. LIVE

Keeping with the energetic tone the duo has been putting out, LIVE kicks things out with a pretty strong guitar intro and keeps up with the strong push for the entire track is great.  AYAMO from what I can tell is getting a bit better at singing while AMO is just doing her thing sounding quite strong as she has been since their debut.  LIVE is pretty good of a song and it stands out to me more than “LET’S GO OUT” did.

2. MAGIC

The other A-side takes it down a notch and focuses more on their poppy side rather than their punk rock tone from “LIVE”.  I have to say that I’m kind of not liking AYAMO’s tone in the song because it’s so squeaky and pitchy while AMO still is just whooping her ass all over the floor lol.  MAGIC though does sound like Tomoko’s newer sound which makes sense but it’s quite catchy nonetheless.

3. MAZE

Then the single splits off into it’s pressings only songs.  The regular features two extra tracks of both are solo tracks.  AMO goes first with MAZE.  It starts out with this VERY CREEPY intro of the girl telling us a story (in a British accent no less).  It made me think of Tommy’s Halloween songs with the way it was styled.  AMO though sounds SO GOOD in this song though which isn’t surprising but she does it so well!  I do like the waltz atmosphere when the song does get moving and even the synth/keyboard solo was really cool.  I have to say this was a surprisingly amazing track….give AMO a damn solo career xD.

4. DARLIN’

Next is AYAMO’s turn at the mic with DARLIN’.  Of course I’ve said she’s the weaker vocalist of the two and it wasn’t surprising she was given a kind of genki punk rock track to try to give reason for her meh singing here.  I do like her Engrish though since she kind of has the same grasp as Tomoko does except younger lol.  The song is a bit like “LIVE” but this song sounds like it could’ve been better by AMO, just saying.

5. TWINKLE

The limited edition comes with a different song sung by both girls of course!  However, unlike the previous tracks, this track is pretty made for some kind of shoujo anime because it’s sugary cute and I hear AYAMO a LOT in this song which is kind of meh to me.  Even AMO is trying to doll up her voice because it asks for it.  Not my kind of song though.

AMOYAMO’s 2nd single, LIVE/MAGIC is a tad bit better than their first single which shows progress for sure.  The leading tracks were both quite good on both aspects of their rock and pop vibes (which leads me to believe that Tomoko is fusing her heavenly and February personas into these two).  TWINKLE though was a bit too sugary cute and pitchy in vocals.  As for the solos, I was completely taken aback from AMO’s solo more than AYAMO’s.  Yeah a filled out single, but it was pretty good.

AMOYAMO – LET’S GO OUT December 7, 2012

letsgoout

Track Listing

  1. LET’S GO OUT
  2. OMG!!
  3. Freeze! (Regular only)
  4. Pray (Limited only)

1. LET’S GO OUT

As it’s the groups actual debut, LET’S GO OUT sounds pretty punk rock which suits them quite nicely since their vocals are a bit higher but have some edge to them.  AYAMO’s vocals are better though because they aren’t as shrill as AMO’s in this song.  I’m a little surprised of the lack of synths, but hey whatever works, this song is quite catchy and kind of reminds me of PUFFY.

2. OMG!!

The B-side found on all editions is kind of like the stuff we’ve heard from their debut mini-album but this is lacking something when compared to other tracks.  I know they’re trying to be a little more cuter, but the arrangement had nothing to really yay about.  Even AYAMO sounded bored of the song too XD.  Oh well….

3. Freeze!

At least the Regular edition song amps things back up to speed with Freeze!  I love the grittier guitar riffs but I’m still not sold on AMO fitting with this atmosphere because she’s a bit too high. I think if the song was a bit quicker and had a stronger backbone, this song would’ve grew to be one of my favorites because it has a lot of many things that I like.  It’s a really catchy tune TBH.

4. Pray

On the limited editions though we get a cover.  Being produced by Tomoko Kawase, it was bound to happen and we have a cover of Tommy heavenly6’s track, Pray.  Actually when I listened to it, it’s how I sort of imagined how it would sound had it been Tommy february6 would’ve done it but with two vocalists.  That being said, this isn’t a bad cover and I don’t find much to really bag it…so this is good!

AMOYAMO’s debut single isn’t bad and is a step up from the mini-album (even though they both have the same amount tracks..?).  LET’S GO OUT didn’t have anything that was deemed to annoying but I did find OMG!! to be quite boring.  The lead track is rockin’ and had some good stuff going and Freeze! as well though that track needed a little more power behind it and finally their Th6 cover was actually good…not better, but worthy for them.  Though if there was one thing I’d wanna see more of…it’s AYAMO…she’s clearly the better singer here…

AMOYAMO – A☆M☆O☆Y★A★M★O December 4, 2012

Track Listing

  1. A☆M☆O☆Y★A★M★O
  2. HEART♡♥CANDY
  3. X☠BOYFRIEND
  4. LITTLE MISS “SUMMER DAYS”

1. A☆M☆O☆Y★A★M★O

No surprise that they would start their mini with a kind-of introduction to the group lol.  When I took my first listen it sounds like it was a mix of february and heavenly because they have a poppy sound going but also they have a lot of punk rock in them.  AMO and AYAMO’s vocals aren’t the best and the song can be quite annoying after a while but it’s interesting I guess?  I can see them totally rockin’ it out at live performances.

2. HEART♡♥CANDY

With the next song, I immediately thought of Tommy feb with that kind of cutesy intro and then the background guitars reminded me of heavenly XD.  HEART♡♥CANDY is kind of catchy in its own way since both singers aren’t as annoying here which is always good!  It’s a great track on the mini for sure!

3. X☠BOYFRIEND

I feel like this song focuses more on the guitars than the previous two tracks which is a cool thing I think?  Once again, both vocalists are kind of interesting to listen to as they both kind of have better vocals but there’s one (AYAMO?) that has the deeper vocals that I like!  It’s a good track overall, nothing to tally gasm over but it’s fun to listen to…plus ~birthday cake and chocolate cake?~ interesting XDDDD

4. LITTLE MISS “SUMMER DAYS”

The mini ends with probably the weakest song off the mini because I seriously don’t remember the song after I’ve listened to it.  I think it’s a bit too slow for me and the girls don’t really sound as intriguing as they did in the previous two tracks.  I wish I knew what else to say about the song, but it’s just not that memorable.

A pre-debut mini?  I don’t understand that, but whatever.  A☆M☆O☆Y★A★M★O is actually not too bad, but it’s not really all that great either.  It is that release where they test the waters (as in both the singers and their producer Tomoko Kawase).  It’s a stepping stone and they kept it safe for the most part…I’m intrigued to hear their actual debut single now lol
