- Last Note ~ Kieta Ato no Rosoku no Kaori
- My Valentine
- But Not For Me
- The Rain
- Navy & Shining Gold
As the opening track and promo song used for the album, Reincarnation is interesting as it’s a bit more upbeat and yet somewhat flowing other than previous lead tracks in their discography. Actually, the best comparison might be “The Closer”, but the tune is still more funky and has enough turns from Ravi leading a lot and the prechorus getting a cool bumping beat that releases into this light section and then bringing it back to a funky groove for the chorus. Pretty cool track, maybe not as good as “Depend on me”, but this is definitely a good way to kick the album off.
So if you were wondering why certain songs are bolded it seems this album kind of split into 1/2 Korean songs and 1/2 new Japanese tracks (the bolded being the KOR tracks from “EAU DE VIXX” & “Shangri-La”). Scentist was the main attraction for the “EAU DE VIXX” album and for good choice it was because it was super slick and kind of in a way badass. It flows more smoothly than “Reincarnation” and just hits harder. Slightly disappointed it wasn’t translated, but I still love the song all the same. It’s just VIXX doing what they do best and they didn’t disappoint!
Hopping back to some new JPN works, Sugar tones things down with a kind of cute bop of a song. I kind of like the minimalist sound from here and starting once again with a nice Ravi rap is cool! The tune is pretty much in line with some of their album tracks of the past and I dig these laidback, poppy tracks. It’s also nice to see harmonizations with the guys as the 5 singers all do song great together!
4. Last Note ~ Kieta Ato no Rosoku Kaori
Our next track, Last Note has a pretty unique arrangement with the boopy synths all over the track. I think of the new tracks, Last Note kind of rubs me the right way because it seems a bit out of left field for the group, but take out the trap beats and give me more of those harmonizations. I think maybe with more listens, this song will grow on me because the longer it goes, the soothing it gets, but it’s still an odd song on the album lol.
Back to tracks from “EAU DE VIXX”, Circle kind of continues this interesting arranging style that “Last Note” started, but it also kind of reminds me of “Scentist” in a way. I’m noticing a lot more Ravi these days on their tracks because he definitely stands out on this album so far to me. Yeah, there’s just something about the song that really reminds me of the latter track, but I kind of like the slow groove as well.
6. My Valentine
Bongo drums huh? Yeah, our next track has an interesting intro and then adds piano to the VIXX sound to give us another mellow bop of a track. I kind of dig it and it somewhat gives me slight jazz vibes against light trap sounds. The song is nice and all, but I don’t think it’s all that memorable (though those bongos are odd being the lead-in to the chorus).
7. But Not For Me
As the last stretch of the new tracks, But Not For Me kind of marks the realization of that the exclusive tracks on this album have some really nice arrangements here! Though, I will say some of the sound of this one in particular give me some The Little Mermaid vibes with those synths. Though I kind of dig it a lot, then the chorus kind of comes in and it has this rush of in n’ out sound that kind of surprises me. I kind of enjoyed this one.
8. The Rain
It wasn’t a surprise to me that there had to be a simple ballad on this album and it resounds in this track. While I don’t think VIXX does very many ballads (shows that their leading songs have never been ballads), but I would say that this would be a good representation of them doing a good job given the chance to. While I’m not totally 100% on board with Ravi rapping in such a simple piano ballad, his deep voice kind of fills the gap out. Otherwise, this was a nice track if not maybe a little basic.
9. Navy & Shining Gold
As the final two tracks come up, I’ve wondered why these songs from “EAU DE VIXX” were chosen (and moreso not translated). Navy & Shining Gold is probably the group’s poppiest track on the album and definitely gives me vibes to some songs they released in the previous JPN album they did, specifically “Mukae ni Ikou”. I do like the groove and while it doesn’t quite fit the album’s motif, it’s a nice way to bring things to a lighter and happier level.
Ending the album, is the oldest track VIXX released and I found it quite surprising it’s the final track. Though, I still think this song is just classy as hell and the whole Oriental theme of the track really stands out. Like the other Korean songs, a little disappointed it wasn’t translated. Just seeing everyone have decent lines and sounding awesome just feels so good.

Song of Avoidance
- My Valentine
I never expected VIXX to release a sophomore album (sorry, but “Lalala ~Ai wo Arigatou~” is so a mini-album), but Reincarnation is a pretty decent album for them despite half the album is in Japanese and the other in Korean. That being also said, I felt like the new tracks got more interesting arrangements versus the “EAU DE VIXX” songs here. Definitely a step up from “Depend on me” that’s for sure!
