Ifu Sarasa – Curriculum January 23, 2012

Track Listing

  1. Curriculum
  2. Kotoba to Slime

1. Curriculum

As this is Ifu’s debut song I was curious to what we’d get and if I remember correctly, it’s a little more natural sounding than her 4th single actually lol.  I kind of enjoy the song since Ifu’s vocals are light and happy and mixed in with an upbeat setting, it actually works.  It does seem a little basic but it’s understandable because it’s a debut but it’s still kind of nice once in a while.

2. Kotoba to Slime

The B-side though was a surprise because it’s harder hitting than “Curriculum” and kind of reminds me of PUFFY’s songs.  Even her voice reminds me of one of them.  It’s hard, yet still poppy which is great.  I kind of actually prefer this song over the A-side funny enough.

Ifu’s debut single was alright actually.  I mean Curriculum isn’t anything special really, but it’s not bad just kind of forgetful.  Kotoba to Slime was definitely the preferred song actually.  I mean it’s harder and has better sounding vocals.  I wonder where the bridge to her recent synthwork happened….must’ve been in the next two singles.

Ifu Sarasa – Tasogare Moon/Yozora no Origami December 20, 2009

Track Listing

  1. Tasogare Moon
  2. Yozora no Origami
  3. Tasogare Moon (Cubismo Grafico Milky Mellow Mix)
  4. Yozora no Origami (TGMX -Good Morning Mix-)

1. Tasogare Moon

Oh instantly I was brought back to the days when Tommy february6 was active.  Tasogare Moon has that same 80’s synth that made her famous and hearing with Ifu is pretty interesting.  Ifu’s vocals in the song is like Tomoko’s quite a bit, but maybe a little more girlish but it actually works in the song so I kind of like it alot.

2. Yozora no Origami

The other A-side has a stronger influence with actual instruments, but there’s synths still around in the song and I really really like them here.  They aren’t in the way with the pop/rock arrangement.  I guess it laid off the cute for a more normal sound and it’s equally as good as the primary A-side.

3. Tasogare Moon (Cubismo Grafico Milky Mellow Mix)

Now we get into the remixes of the single, Tasogare Moon’s is of course first and at first I thought it was a more chilled out mix and it is actually.  Even to the point where Ifu’s vocals are quieted down and overloaded on auto-tune.  I’m guessing the point the remix is making is the song is out in space so it’s like your hearing it from speakers.  After a bit, the song comes in louder and it still has that relaxed dance feeling.  Interesting remix overall…I still wonder about that trumpet solo…it’s weird but cool though.

4. Yozora no Origami (TGMX -Good Morning Mix-)

True to the meaning, Yozora no Origami’s remix sounds like something you’d actually hear in the morning if you like the mix of 8bit clicks and guitar/synths mix.  It’s a pretty good remix overall and even though some of the arrangement feels like too much, it’s nice enough to mesh together smoothly.

If this is what Ifu Sarasa’s music sounds like overall, count me in!  Tasogare Moon/Yozora no Origami sounds radically different from what was released this year and even though this was her only single she released this year it makes me wonder why she’s taking so long to get her name out there.  She’s got a good enough voice and her music is likeable…maybe it’s her label that’s messing things up xD
